Woke up at 615am and opened my window and saw the most amazing views I have seen in Sri Lanka...Unfortunately due to the mist didn’t see Kiri Vehera however Uda Walawe Reservoir was visible.
Took about 100 pictures and still couldn’t capture the beauty...finally around 730am I had to get my eyes off the vistas and did some yoga for about 30 minutes.
Before leaving I took some pictures of the hotel that we stayed “Hotel Nature Horizon” and we drove to Bambarakanda falls. Since it was late when we passed the turn off to Bambarakanda falls yesterday we had to drive back.
Between the 172km and 171km posts you get a turn off to Bambarakanda falls and you have to drive 5kms to get to the fall. It’s a fairly well tarred road. On the way you pass through this really beautiful water flow where you can have a bath. Further on there is a parking lot, to park your car and trek for about 15 minutes before you get to the waterfall.
After Bambarakanda falls we started towards Haputale. On the way we passed a quaint guest house called Green Valley Cottages. Its rooms have
lovely interiors and are spacious. Room prices are also reasonable.
We were meant to go to Lipton’s seat, however it was very misty so there was no point going and left it for another day as I am sure we will pass this area again soon.
Got to Ella, we hadn’t had any breakfast or lunch therefore stopped at this small roadside place. We had Paratha and Coconut Rotti with Dhal and Fried Onions.
We are staying at a place called Sky Green, it’s costing LKR4,000/= per night. The view from Sky Green of Ravana Falls and the Ella Gap is awesome.
Udesh and Ranjiva arrived at around 345pm and we decided to go and see Little Adams Peak. After passing Ella town you take a right turn on to Passara Road and continue till you come across a place called 98 Acres. You have to park near 98 Acres Boutique Hotel and Restaurant and walk. It’s really well designed and beautiful place.
The views from Little Adams Peak of the Ella Rock and the gap cannot be described in words and pictures in this instance don’t speak a thousand words.
Afterwards we sat
at the 98 Acres restaurant and just chilled till around 730pm. It’s an absolutely wonderful place to just hangout and chill. Don’t feel the time passing by.
We were quite hungry so got back to the Ella town and went to “Nescoffee” restaurant to have dinner. There was hardly a place to sit when this elderly foreign couple asked us to sit at a table adjoining theirs. We were talking to them when Ranjiva ordered a beer and the waiter said they won’t be able to serve beer to Sri Lankans as it was the Sri Lankan New Year period as in the 12th and 13th.
They were serving beer to the foreigners but not to Sri Lankans. Ranjiva showed his National Identity Card where it says the he was born in the United States and that he is an American. Still they refused.
I asked the foreign couple to order a bottle of beer and that he could take it off them but the waiter refused that too. The entire restaurant was packed with foreigners and there were no locals at all and perhaps they didn’t want our custom.
We went to the Dreams Cafe
next door and ordered pizza; they also served beer too and a fruit smoothie for me.
We hung around till about 930pm and got back to Sky Green and was chit chatting to Udesh and Ranjiva while writing this.
