Pre-no rae bang
Me, Paddy, and Dain Hello, All!!!
I know, I'm a terrible person. It's been over a week since I last blogged and ranted and raved for you. (BAD Megan! BAD!) Please be patient with me. It's going to take me a while to get into a rhythm here. I have a few ideas for upcoming blogs, but I want to get them worked out on paper before I post them for the world to see.
I had quite the week! The students from Bumgye Middle School were an interesting bunch. They were very smart kids - almost too smart. They were quick to pick things up, but very chatty and unruly. I think they were mostly bored. When that happens, I like to think that is when most teachers will go one of two ways: they either yell and get frustrated and angry... it's those teachers who, by the end of the week, have given up entirely; and then there are the teachers who step things up. They will elaborate on questions or concepts to challenge the students and they will be goofy and fun to keep their attention. Honestly, I was a little of both this week. I'd like to think, though,
CUTE
Donna and myself that by the end of the week, I was that second kind of teacher. I think I'm better for it and I think that it will help a lot come VIP season.
VIP stands for Vacation Intensive Program. It means that we will have the same group for a whole month (EEK!!!) and will have to plan enough for all of them to do in the mean time. This is why I have been pulling what they call "double classes" with no development time. I understand, though - I'm new, so I really have nothing to "develop" that I could contribute to VIP in time. So I scribble my ideas down in a notebook when I get the opportunity.
I'm sorry I have yet to post any pictures. It will likely still be a couple of weeks. I have to wait until I get paid to buy a new camera cable online and then I have to wait for it to ship.
I got my official EV ID - I can open classrooms and everything all by myself! YAY!!! But alas, with great power comes great responsibility. I'm expected now to get things set up before the
Strike a pose
Donna told me to look cute. I tried. Points for effort? next class I teach and retrieve necessary materials from other classrooms and the like. Again, I don't mind. It's not like I'm too busy making a powerpoint or drafting lessons to do it. I'm just glad to feel useful.
The weather is getting hotter and more humid. I'm less than pleased about this, but the worst is yet to come from what I hear. I just can't wait for that rain to cool things off a little!
This weekend is going to be an adventure! I'm leaving for Cheung Ju, which is a 3 or so hour car ride away. I'm going with Cathy, who has friends there. Our weekend schedule should go something like this:
Friday - bachelorette party (woohoo!)a
Saturday - housewarming party, no rae bang (Korean Karaoke)
Sunday - Zip lining!!!
I'm particularly excited about that last one. I've never gone zip lining! It sounds/looks like a blast, though.
Oh, and I went to No rae bang (NO - RAY - BONG) last week with about 10 people, and it resulted in a whole mess of awesomeness. We had a blast, some amazing pictures were taken, and I could NOT stop smiling at
Singing
Dain and I are singing. Woot! the ridiculousness of my co-workers.
Okay, my lunch break is over and I haven't eaten yet... I should probably get on that.
I love you all SO much!!!
Meg
P.S. NO, I didn't move to the other apartment. It smelled like cig smoke. BLUGH! But I'll be fine here once I get the yucky carpet cleaned.
