Okay. So as usual, I meant to update sooner. Really, I did! But there have been so many things going on in the past week, and there will be a ton of things coming up in this week; Either way, I had to write eventually!
Let's start with last week. Last week was the end of the Winter Term. With all of the miscellaneous holidays we've had, our MWR classes were nearly a week ahead of the TF classes. Clearly, there needed to be some way that the Tuesday Friday kids could play catch-up. So while the MWR classes wrapped up with their last class on Monday, TF kids had to come both to their Tuesday and Friday classes-- to complete lessons 10, 11, and 12.
As the Monday-Wednesday-Thursday kids only had to be in on Monday, they got Wednesday off. We teachers, however, did not. Instead, we met one of our new Korean instructors (Gabbie, who will be replacing Seon ), and prepared mock teaching classes. Why? Because with the new spring semester upon us, we switch books from Track B to Track A. That means that all of the material is different; still pretty easy,

Gukchae Memorial Park for the National Debt Repayment Movement but different none-the-less. Jin and Jake wanted to make sure that we all could handle it. Apparently, we did better than they expected; but hey, teaching adults as if they were children is still way different than teaching children.
Thursday, then, we met Jeremy (who will be replacing Michiko ). Thursday was a chaotic day where about 200 students showed up and we pretty much had a "Fun Day" where we had activities and a "Point Market" where they could buy things with their hard-earned points, which I described, I think, a few entries ago. So pretty much, it was about 200 kids running around 10 classrooms. All. Day. I think most kids had fun, though.
My room was dedicated to tongue twisters. Imagine the fun and chaos that ensued there: "Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers; a peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked. If Peter Piper picked a peck of picked peppers, where's the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?"
One word: hilarious.
Friday was the last day of the term, and as such, Jake let us leave

while I was precariously perched on a mottled stone walkway of stepping stones that leads across the Sincheon River. early to have a dinner on company dime. Seon, Ashlee, Michiko, and MiYoung were all leaving that day. Seon is going to another branch. Ashlee is quitting and taking a break for a while. Michiko went back to the States this weekend. MiYoung, one of our awesome desk teachers, is moving. So, yeah. When I go in tomorrow, everything will be different.
However, Jeremy is the "new" native English instructor-- he actually has been here for a year, but switched branches for his second year to be in Daegu with his girlfriend. Gabbie is a recent graduate, and she went to high school in Canada for four years; she's from Seoul, and she seems really cool. Replacing Ashlee will be Boa (like the singer "
BoA" lol), who I met briefly during the meeting before Christmas with all the other branches. She's coming in from another branch, though I honestly can't remember which. I guess I'll let you know when I remember.
I don't think MiYoung has a replacement, but about three weeks ago we hired a part-timer to take care of miscellaneous duties around the hagwon. I think until we have someone to help JiYoung (the other desk-teacher
), SuGeong (SuGung?) will probably be helping out.
I'm really sad to see that so many people are leaving. Tomorrow is going to be surreal; I think I'm closest to Michiko than my other coworkers by far. But she's back in North Carolina eating pie, so I'm happy for her. 😉 I'm just sulking.
As a filler, I'll post a few of the pictures I've taken around Daegu at night. The city is pretty all lit-up, and I love taking shots with a slow shutter speed or a high aperture. Still figuring out the camera, but I think I'm improving. What do you think?

ooh, Daegu is much prettier than Douai at night! It's pretty much dead starting at 7:30pm here...
