Well the day started early, like 6.20 am as I forgot to change the alarm time!! We awoke to yet another spectacular view with the sun still to come up over Marina Bay Sands, you could see it getting lighter each minute. We had some breakfast in our room thanks to Vincent's Mum and Dad buying BBQ chicken coins so we added them to some bread that we bought! We headed off into the heat towards Suntec City which is 5 buildings, each separate but every building has its own shopping malls!! All too much for me! (Yeah Right we all believe that) Lucky they were closed until 10am. We found the Alive Museum which is where you pose with different paintings and they look realistic, as though you are actually there!
We then went to Marina Square shopping Mall and found the food court for lunch, Clint had are Rendang Beef ( he told me to have something local) and I had Sizzling Chicken Curry Noodles, both meals were delicious.
We then walked to the harbour, overlooking Marina Bay Sands and the city, we sat and relaxed but got too hot so walked to the Merlion but only today the
water feature was turned off for cleaning!!! Of course this would happen to us, we saw it from our room today working but now it's closed!!
We then walked to catch the bus to take us around to Orchard Road to explore this area. We were hoping to get a fish foot massage but didn't come across one. I bought a pair of sandals and a top for Melanie and we both bought a frozen mango drink as it was so hot. We caught the Singapore Airlines hop on, hop off bus back to our hotel, which is the stop right next to Raffles and went to our room and had a well earnt cold drink!! ( alcoholic of course!!)
Finally we made it down to the pool, had a beautiful swim and found ourselves at the bar where we met Arleen who made us these divine Singapore Slings! They were much better than the ones we had in Raffles last time we were here. Arleen disappeared for a while and then came back with a gift for us, it is a Merlion souvenir, maybe a drink pourer? Not quite sure but we are happy to receive it as it is
to do with the 50th anniversary of Singapores Independence I've had too many drinks now so I'm sorry if there is mistakes but.....oh well!!
We caught the train to Chinatown and met up with Vincent and his Mum and Dad, and cousin and also a friend from Hong Kong, and had dinner at the People's Market where all the locals eat. Once again, a wide selection of food appeared on the table and we all shared these dishes and it was very nice. I ordered a coconut water and ended up with a whole coconut with a straw, there was no way I was going to drink all that, it was massive!
After dinner we walked to the river at Clarke Quay, so many restaurants, bars, and nightclubs, there was just so much happening along the river front. We walked up and down, saw part of the laser show from the Marina Bay Sands and from there we said bye to Vincent and his family and caught the train back to our Hotel.
We relaxed with a cold drink before collapsing into bed at 11.50pm!!
