Today we stayed in the apartment with Zana & Hadeeqa. Pili sorted out the flight changes, she’s a star and I started work updating the blog.
When Azher came home we all decided to order pizza, excellent! We also had a quantity left over for a cold pizza breakfast which repulsed Zana, she doesn’t know what she’s missing, anyway she eats cold baked beans so how am I the gross one!

Today we visited Bukit Timoh Nature Reserve. This is 166 hectres of the last remaining primary rain forest on the island. It’s a great park and a real oasis in the middle of a ultra modern city.
Afterwards we headed for the Botanical Gardens which were amazing, so well thought out and landscaped.
The heat was just draining the life out of us and by the time we got off the train at the Aljunied MRT station we headed straight for a Chinese resturaunt in the red light district of Geylang and sank a cold beer before catching the bus home.
In the evening Zana made us a Dahl and rice and I staying up until 2:00am
with Azher talking and listening to music.

Today was Azer’s day off so he slept in late. I don’t blame him he’s putting in some seriously long hours at work. We headed for the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. The place is a huge mangrove swamp with boardwalk throughout. The place is incredible, we saw Mud Skippers, Mangrove Horse Shoe Crabs, large Water Monitor Lizards, Stork Billed Kingfishers and a huge variety of wading birds. The reserve was a great surprise to us both, just teaming with wildlife. It cost us just one Singapore dollar, the best 50p I’ve ever spent. It did thunder and rain for a while but it was a relief from the heat and we did get to use our new ponchos. Pili got chewed by mosquitoes, she should know better by now not to leave home without a good coating of mosi spray.
On the way home we stopped at the same bar as yesterday and had a great beef and rice dish with a cold beer before heading home.

This morning Azher went for a round of golf and came back very pleased with
himself, he’d beaten his previous best round.
We spent the day chilling, doing some washing and I worked on the blog account.
About 4:00pm Azher took us down to the local golf driving range. Neither Pili or I have ever hit a golf ball so we were a little nervous but willing to give it a go. As it turns out I seem to be a bit of a natural. After Azher had given us some useful instruction about how to hold the club, stand and shift our weight, I immediately started hitting some long drives. The body movement is remarkably like kicking in the martial arts so I had a good start. Pili also did really well, I think we could definitely get use to this and I may even get some clubs when I get home.

We were planning to do the Zoo and night safari today but the heavens opened and we were treated to a serious thunder storm. I didn’t really mind as it gave me more time to work on the blog and sort through my massive archive of photos.

We had a
late start today but eventually arrived at the famous Singapore Zoo at 3:30pm. We had only two and a half hours to go around but we managed it. On the whole it was well laid out and the animals seemed well looked after. The exception was the White Tiger which seemed a little disturbed. The enclosure was jus too small for such large animals.
The night safari was far more impressive with some very rare animals such as the Malayan Tiger of which there are only 300 left in the wild. The Bongo Antelope of which science knows very little about. We also saw the very secretive Tapir and Clouded Leopard. The tram ride was approx 40 minutes but then you could walk around a few other trails. I was very impressed but totally exhausted by the time we finished.
Again on the way home we stopped off at our favourite Chinese for beef, vegetables and rice all washed down with a couple of cold Carlsbergs.

Today was another day spent writing while the girls went into the city to do some shopping. I suffered a raging headache which only subsided after several
pain killers and a sleep in the afternoon. I stayed awake until 5:30am writing and I also watched the football with Azher.

Our last day in Singapore. Pili went to town with Zana and I put in a full day writing this blog, I’m exhausted especially as I was up with Azher watching football until 5:30am. Tomorrow BORNEO, apparently it’s raining hard, DOAH!!!
