For the first few days in town, I stayed at a guest house across the way from the Botanical Garden. Each morning I get started with a stroll through a new section. The gingers, bonsai, rainforest, and frangipani are all on the eastern end and are about as far as I got before discovering the visitors center nestled in the center with a smart little cafe and plenty of water features to ease into another hot, muggy and overcast day. It has done nothing but rain or mist since I arrived and even the locals are starting to despair at the sun's disappearance.
Interestingly, the gardens are filled with a mix of tai chi practitioners, morning commuters rushing along, and expats out for a jog in the latest sports gear while sometimes pushing a high-tech pram.
Still getting a hang of uploading pictures in an efficient way! More to come with the next entry on Kampong Glam and Little India.
