Hia peeps!
Ok story so far is we arrived in Singapore on Wednesday 25th April 2007 in Changai airport, really nice airport btw! Nways we headed to our hostel called Sleepy Sams at 55 Bussorha Street which we have found to be totally amazing! The people r so friendly n helpful its untrue! N people staying in it too r fellow backpackers who r so helpful with advice etc, its basically been amazing! The rooms are well kept and clean, me and Laura sharing bunkbeds which r so unbeliveably comfortable and have really fluffy pillows 😊 It alkso provides breakfast in the morning which is lovely, we have been having toast etc and fruit-Dragon fruit is yummy btw! i would def recommend the hostel to anyone else coming to Singapore 😊
We have 'The Sultan Mosque' right next door to us which is totally amazing, we are woken up with chanting in the morning-its amazing n so beautiful!
The first night was quite quiet as arrived in evening so we dropped bags off then headed out for look around and some food-the food here has been ok, a lot of Chinese resturants which are ok but can be quite greasy,
Singapore Slings at Raffles
Singapore Slings at Raffles also their dishes can be quite spicy which i like so is fine 😊 We then just wandered around checking the place out.
Throughout the week we have been busy looking around, trying to see all the sights but to be honest there is not a lot of Sightseeing to do here, we have visited Chinatown, Little India, The Esplanade, Santosa, Raffles hotel etc.
Chinatown was really nice but not alot to do there, worth a visit to see though! Little India was definately more interesting with stalls, markets and shops-also nice to experience some of their culture! The Esplande is nice too, we went to see the London production of 'Phantom of The Opera' there which was brilliant, although what i found weird was the fact that no one cheered as we would normally do at the end when the stage actors are finished and are bowing-we would normally cheer but people here didn't-mm! Nways, Santosa was gorgeous! The beach was beautiful and very enjoyable especially today as it was hot 😊 Raffles was something i was really looking forward to since booking this trip as it is where the Singapore Sling was invented-it was yummy! We also ate
the monkey nuts and threw the shells on the floor which is also tradition here-mad but cool 😊 The price tag isnt so good though but worth it when visiting Singapore! Def a must 😊
We have met some really cool people here! Being in a shared room has been great as we have met loads of different girls from all over the world. Karen (although i kept calling her Helen) was a lady we got speaking to, she is American but lives in Thailand-so good for advice for there! Gillian is here for 2 weeks, 22 and Irish-we have done quite a few things with her as she is here alone, nice girl. Declan, irish guy we met who works in Japan but is touring some places, Liam the Canadian guy, Josh who is touring all over n been to loads of places so is well good for advice n suggestions! N loads more peeps, (Martha, Emily, Pete, Shaun, the list goes on....) honestly they r so friendly in the hostel and tell u loads of stories, where to go, where not to go, etc!
On to the nightlife-well we headed to Clarke Quay which was brilliant, loads of
Me n Laura
Me and Laura bars n clubs! We, being me, Laura, Gillian, Martha, Decaln and Liam) went to a few which was great but one place not to go to is Molly Malone's-its far too overpriced and not worth it at all!! We only had one there then headed bar to were we had been before! Me Laura n Declan then headed to The St James Power Station as it has clubs there, we got soaked on way though as it started seriously raining hard so we had one then headed back to hostel to relax on seats at hostel-fab!!! We have been doing that almost every night, goin n getting a drink then sitting outiside on the hostel seats with other people just chjatting away and totally chilling out-its
All in all my time here so far has been brilliant! Me and Laura having a ball, laughing and joking all the time especially since we checked out our room this morning and almost headed off to hotel since we though it was Tuesday! Thank god our hostel knew we were staying another night as we didnt haha!!! Brilliant! 😊 Singapore is a great place and def worth doing if possible just to see
Singapore baby!
Singapore baby! the sights and experiece the different cultures!
W have now stayed in the hotel-Shangri La Santosa, it was brilliant! Teh hotel was gorgeous, the room was beautiful and the people very friendly! When we arrived the hotel was quite ready for us as we were early so we used their facilities whilst waiting-we went to their gym which was great, thought we would try and be healthy lol! We then went for 10minutes in a steam room-briliant! then we were goin to dip ourselves in the jacuzzi but we headed for the showers instead, where we had a long hot shower...we then headed of to te now prepared room which was lovely-twin beds, tv, balcony, lovely bathroom with speakers in it for the tv n everything-it was magic! We just lazed about in it for while then went ander around the rest of the hotel to explore, the pool looked lovely although we didnt get chance to try it, ballroom very nice, etc etc...We headed back to room for pampering session and to chill out n watch some films! When it cam to dinner time we were going to have out pasta we made at Sleepy Sams the night before
Laura n Gillian
Laura n Gillian but us being the 2 numpties we are fogot to get it from fridge that morning so we ended up having a can of tuna each-mmm! haha! nice one eh haha! we also muched on some bickies etc so al was good! We then done a washing each, our first travel wash experiencen went well and we hung all our stuff out on balcony so it would be dry for us in the morning, little did we know it was going to majorly piss dow with rain and all our clothes be soaking! So in the morning when we discovered this we had to fry our gyn stuff with a hairdryer, needless to say it was still wet as we made our way to gyn at 7am, but hey we thought why waste a free session so we done our healthy workout then headed back to room for shower, change n to pack the rest of our wet belonging in bag, we then headed off at 8.45 to reception where we seen a whole load of psh woman who lookedlike they were on a stepford wives trip hanging around, we waited for our complimentary bus from hotel to harbour which
