First temple tour 29th Aug:
10hr plane ride to Singapore, met a girl from Ireland who had immigrated to NZ with her boy friend, watched 4 movies and the plane ride was over before I knew it. Was really easy to leave plan check out and go through customs couldn’t have taken more than 20min. from the airport I went straight to the Mass Rapid Transport (MRT) which was conveniently right underneath and took it to little India where I was staying, met a couple from Germany and a local who pointed us in the right direction on which transfers to take and a whole $2 later I was there. The difficult part was walking the 2ish kms from the subway to the back packers with all my luggage and the humidity and heat! After checking in I was so so tired but sent am email to every one that I had arrived safely.
30 Aug:
Woke up quite early around 7 and cook breakfast, I wasn’t really impressed with the hostel when I first arrived only one stove for everyone and crowded rooms but looking back it was really comfortable and a lot better than others I had seen in the area.

close up I went tot the local shopping center and bought some water and some shoes a whole 80c for the shoes! But I did pay the price buy the end of the day I had big blisters on the sides of my feet where they had been digging into the sides of my feet lol. I went for a long walk and had a look at the Hindu and Chinese temples next door to each other, and was very impressed with both but felt a lot mort at peace and relaxed in the Hindu one. On the day back I dropped by the food court next door and got a huge veg meal brown rice and 4 sides of veg for 3.50!!! It all tasted great and the fake meat was very impressive.
I had signed up to go to the night safari but it started raining and we decided to check out the night life instead, so 4 of us headed down to orchard road(very expensive European area) but after arriving we decided it was way to expensive so headed back to the hostel for a couple beers and bed😊
31 Aug:
Had planned to go to Sentosa Island
Temple
chinese temple but it’s still raining so we’ve decided to go to little china instead(Irish girl and myself) didn’t find anything interesting was just food markets…so we went to orchard road(main European shopping centre guchi prada etc) and had a look around and found a little mp4 player(video mp3 radio voice recorder) with a little 1.5mm screen and 2gb memory! All for only $120! But it did start out at 240! And I argued and but different shop’s against each other to get it down to that price lol
The hostel arranged another night safari and the 4 of us caught a taxi there Greg(nz x south African) Louise(Irish) Priya(Indian from London) really enjoyed the night safari but couldn’t get any good pics as it was so dark but got so see lions tigers elephants ant eaters and allsorts of other cool animals. We arrived back at 11 and I fell asleep straight away.
1 Sept:
Went on a walk with Priya at one of the reserves, but to get there we had to figure out the bus system!! And ended up getting dropped of about 4 km away from where we should be, so we got to se the

chinese temple close up “real Singapore” buy hiking along the motor/main roads) to where we were trying to got to. When we eventually got there it was all around a nice water reservoir type thing with thick forest/rain forest all around. And there was a random tower in the middle offering a great view of the surrounding greenery. The hike was about 5-8 km on its own so we did a fair amount of walking. We managed to catch the right bus back thanx to a nice semi English speaking bus driver, and went and revisited the temples with Priya, then bought a picnic of local fruit and managed to find a tiny grass patch tho enjoy it on, after which we went back down to orchard rd to see if we could find any or the bars I had seen the day before. We settled into a local bar were serenaded by the local band who totally destroyed every song they sung but was a great experience. After which we headed back to little India and the bar next door to the hostel, where we meet a few people from north London and we drank and spoke to them until 2am;-p heading back
first meal
First meal to the hostel I was rather amazed to find someone was sleeping in my bed!! Turns out I had miss counted my days and had only paid to the night before! We both fund it absolutely hilarious and I ended up sleeping on Priya’s bed haha
2nd Sept:
Said good by to Priya as se was heading home, and arranged my trip to Tioman island in Malaysia, booked my last night back at the hostel for the 6th. Then took the MRT to the harbour front and a Cable car to Sentosa island😊 $12 and walked around seeing all the things I could see skipped most of the attractions as they didn’t look very exciting and very over priced. But looks lots of picture and saw a lot of nice places the highlights would be exploring the abandoned volcano mountain ride, I got out my flash light and was exploring the tunnels and rooms that had made up the ride show😊 and the most amazing water fountain show after dark complete with sound, lasers, images and projected video! After which I took the cable car back and enjoyed the night lights of Singapore.
