I was only in Singapore for 5 days but I can tell you the two main things I will remember
Animals and the Heat
The humidity in this place was ridiculous, I couldn't stay out in the sun for a minute without already sweating. Even in the evening and at night you had to wear shorts, I only had jeans on once during the stay and that was the last night when me and Rowan (from New Zealand) went out for a few drinks. I met Rowan at the hostel I was staying in he arrived a day later than me and we were probably the only two staying in the hostel who were travelling. He is on his way to Europe and the cold now.
Sentosa Island & Tiger Beer
I bet in a few years time this will be a theme park, but at the moment it got some nice white beaches with a clear blue sea. The only problem was that the day I visit it decides to have a tropical rainstorm. Most of the attraction on Sentosa are chilled out no big
rollercoasters yet. The ride I think I would have enjoyed the most would have been the street luge! if it weren't for all the safety regulations. It was also the first time I came in contact with monkeys, which I think I saw almost everyday. I ended up visting this old fort called Fort Siloso while it was chucking it down. All there seemed to be in this fort where cannons and a few rooms with information on the past. If you are wondering what the picture on the left is dont get too excited its just another one of these observation towers (I think there are 3 on the Island) I went on the one sponsered by Tiger Beer (The only one which didn't envolve stairs!). Now I didn't realise that Tiger Beer was from Singapore and that it was extremely popular. The main Brewery was about 5minutes from the entry to Sentosa Island so when I first met Rowan we both new we had to taste the pure version. The Tour itself wasn't the best (but I'm comparing that to the Guiness Factory) but we did get to try a Super Cool Tiger Beer and in Singapore the
only beer I would have, we also got a Tiger Beer Glass which they say is unique but I bet Birdys got it.
Animals Animals Animals
Night Safari
If you love animals then Singapore is definitely the place to visit. I will be honest I dont think I'll be bothered if I dont ever come back here (Hong Kong was more my style). There wasn't alot to do hear apart from go and see animals. There are 3 main places to go the Singapore Zoo, the Night Safari and the Jurong Bird Garden. Luckily I could by all three for a cheaper price which is always good. We ended up going to the Night Safari first which was pretty impressive as I haven't been to anything like. We got there about 9pm when of course it was dark and surprisingly all the animals were up, especially the bats. They had there own avery and when I walked in I was expected them to be a sleep or hidden away like usual, but I was totally wrong. Some of these bats were huge and when
they start to fly straight to your face, bloody hell I think I almost ended up on the floor about 3 times. The only problem with the safari which you can guess was that photos and videos where near impossible to get the best vid I got was at the main entrance.
Singapore Zoo & Jurong Bird Garden
Singapore Zoo was like any other Zoo i've been too apart from the bloody heat! and the fact the monkeys were basically aloud to go anywhere they wanted. We were quite lucky I believe to see a number of animals when they were being about to be fed, the polar bears and white Tiger in particular because they were actually wondering around. The shows they put on were impressive and the Sealion was very well trained. The one thing though that makes this place stand out and surprisingly not the busiest was the Elephant ride, Fair enough it was a pretty short bumpy ride but it will be something I never forget. We were going to try and see if we could race the elephants but you know that weren't going to happen.
The same I'm afraid will have to be said about the Bird Garden it was like any other Bird Garden (If you have ever been to one) but there was nothing unique here like the elephant ride, although i did manage to be able to take part in one of there shows (but all i had to do was hold a hoop while a bird flew through it, wow!). I would have put a video on here showing a bird flying on my shoulder and eventually biting me but sadly the internet here isnt the quickest and I have only managed to get one video on.
Time for Sydney
I have safely arrived in Sydney and the weather is like the English summer at the moment (but im not complaining). Prices here are a little more expensive than I thought they would be but some of the attractions look pretty impressive. Like I have said before you going to have to wait a while to see what i get up to next.
