We finally left Moyo Island, I really thought that the day would never arrive! Time for a change of scene and culture. I am ready for some good old western cuisine and to be in a place where they speak English, say like Australia. We had one stop before we got there, namely Singapore. I love Singapore. It is such a clean and friendly place. I also like it as it reminds me of my family. If my Daddy was still alive then he had planned to take a final posting to Singapore, so my family would have been living here at this point in time. Obviously that wasn’t to be, but it is a comfort to think that we would have been there. Strange, but true. Singapore also happens to be my Mummy’s favourite place in the world so I might be a little bit biased.
We only had 2 flights today. One on the sea plane back to Bali and one from Bali to Singapore. If I had thought it strange to land on water, it is even stranger to take off from water. Not natural at all. The view back to Bali was breath taking. The water
was so many different colours of blue and green. We passed hundreds of islands, most of which had nobody living on them and were mostly underwater when the tide was in. The flight to Singapore was more routine. HB was upset that she couldn’t sit with Mrs G so she put the water works on, but I don’t take that sort of nonsense so she soon stopped. We had a great maths lessons on recapping odds and evens and tried a little adding. HB is such a good little pupil, very quick, plus she likes to learn so it makes it much easier to teach her. I love doing lessons with her, to see her little face light up when she gets it right and the pride she has when she shows her parents what she is achieved - it makes it all worthwhile. To finish our flight we had a little dance party with the headsets on while listening to one of the children’s music selections on the in-flight entertainment.
It was only a short ride to our hotel the Fullerton, I rather liked it there. It used to be a massive post office, but then converted into
The Casino
Still being built, but almost ready to be opened. a hotel. Mr and Mrs G didn’t like it so much; they didn’t like the service mainly. Oh well, can’t please everyone. To end the day we had a lovely dinner in the Lighthouse restaurant on their top floor, so we had a wonderful view of Singapore at night. It was decided that the next day that Mr and Mrs G would spend the day doing “Admin” while the kids and I went off and did something, come back have a nap, have dinner and then go to the airport for our late flight to Oz. Sounds like a plan Batman.
To be continued ...
