Sentosa Island Hurricane Trip to Singapore
People laughed at us when we first asked them about covering the entire country in two days. Travel agencies also refused to provide us itinerary for only two days. But we were determined to see the island and that too within 2 days. We decided to explore the country on our own.
We googled, downloaded few itineraries, jotted down the tourist places, reviewed their pictures, saw few friends Facebook photos and finally prepared our itinerary.
On one Friday we landed in Singapore airport at around 12.30pm. Since there was no cab waiting for us to drop to the hotel and we knew taxis are costly affair, we opted for Metro. We could see series of travel booking counters as we started moving towards exit. We stopped at one of them. We were quite delighted to know that metro pass can be bought even for 3 days, bought for all of us and also bought entry tickets for some of the sightseeing places. It saved some money but huge amount of time.
Riding a metro and reaching to the destination using its different lines was not a thrilling experience for us, as we have
Inside
Sentosa Island metro in various cities of our country now. But its cleanliness, through and through underground shopping complex and the huge network of metro connecting the entire island thrilled us.
It took quite a bit of time to reach our hotel in little India with big bags and kids. Still we were quite fresh as the metro journey was quite smooth.
The hotel area had many Indian hotels, had light Indian lunch and took rest for an hour.
Day 1, first destination was night safari – the night zoo. Singapore day zoo, night zoo and River cruise are next to each other. Out of these three we chose to go for Night safari for two reasons. One shortage of time and two we assumed that this should be the unique one as we don't have this back home in India.
We enjoyed our bus ride to night safari as we passed by beautiful houses, parks, green patches, South China Sea, floating cruises – an eye soothing journey.
We already had the ticket so quickly join the queue to board to the buggy. There was option for walking as well. The queue was long and we waited
Star Fish
SEA Aquarium in Sentosa Island nearly for an hour. Finally we got our place. Ride completed in 40 mins. The most beautiful part of the whole safari was man made tropical rain forest. It was simply outstanding. Wonder how nature can be replicated by human being.
After having dinner inside the zoo, came back to the hotel.
Day 2, started little late, whole day was to be spent in Sentosa Island. Metro ride, reaching to the island and then riding on to mono rail to reach one of the destination inside Sentosa. It's really praiseworthy how different modes of communication have been used at the proper places.
We started with SEA – the aquarium and been to universal studio and dolphin show. Though enjoyment was at its peak everywhere, but has to be some special mentions.
The boat show, where the audience sit on the same boat which eventually sinks in the story. A genuine effort has been put to make the show as natural as possible by splashing water onto the audience, sound of storm and feel of sinking. The best part was when audience reaches into the aquarium once sank.
The aquarium was just brilliant. After thoroughly enjoying
Penguin
Jurong Bird Park the aquarium we went to see the universal studio. It has several shows and rides. We didn’t stop for butterfly and insects park as we had been to one in Bangalore. We watched dolphin show. Brilliantly trained pink dolphins danced on different tunes.
By now we were damn tired but had to ride on Singapore flyer. Singapore looked beautiful from top. It was a 30 mins relaxing ride.
After the flier ride we called it a day.
Next morning was the last day, we had time till 4pm. We started our day from Jurong Bird park visit. Watching pink flamingos and other exotic birds under one huge park was really amazing.
Most exciting part was to watch the penguin. Which we may not be able to see them at their native.
After Bird Park it was garden by the bay. That was just outstanding. Wow came out as we entered one of the two domes. Exotic plants and flowers from all over the world, huge man made falls made the garden brilliant.
Now very less time left, so gave a touch and go visit to the Merlion, clicked few pictures and wrapped up our
Garden by the bay
Plants in cloud forest hurricane tour.
Though damn tired but honestly enjoyed every bit of it and kept talking about all the places till we fell asleep in the plane.
We shall come back again, sit by the bay and just watch picture perfect Singapore.
But I must say don't avoid visiting even if you can afford only 2 days it’s worth visiting.
