Snorkelling
Me diving down at Moaboal Hello all, im now splitting this entry into 2 pieces as we have done so much lately so here goes.
So since the last time i spoke I was about to have my final weekend in the Philippines, and wat a good weekend it was, Jackie and her room mate Faye and her boyfriend Janssen decided to take me on a weekend away, so we got on a bus from the Southern Bus terminal and headed down to Moalboal Beach, had to get a trike down to the beach itself and to where we stayed called Magic Beach which was a little place and was in a room rite on the beach, the room itself not in the best condition. Once arrived we went on a snorkeling trip which was great fun and the corals there were amazing def some of the best I have seen, really wishin i took my camera. As i saw a sea turtle at about 8meters deep and also a lion fish swimming about plus an abundance of other reef fish. Once we snorkeled for a while on the site the Bangka driver then lets you hold onto the side of the boat and they
pull you along which is great fun, as you get to see so much more of the coral wall than by just snorkeling, and i saw about 5 more turtles, problem was i also got stung by alot of jellyfish, luckily no big ones but it was still pretty itchy afterwards. That nite had a big fresh fish dinner then drank some local Gin on the beach and made a fire from the wood you could by, with the help from a bag of diesel. Sorted. Was really good to just sit there watching the flames as there was loads of fires on the beach with people laughing and joking, had a great atmosphere there, also you can do scuba diving here looked like it would be worth a dive to see the coral. The next morning did another boat snorkeling fing in the same way as the day before but went right instead of left from the beach today, the corals not as good here, saw a nice size school of batfish but that about it. Also didnt get as stung this time on the tow back and did see another turtle which was good.
So that afternnon
after chilling out on the beach we got a trike and then a bus down to the Kawasan falls, which were great for a day out as you have a choice of 3 waterfalls, the first was impressive but packed so we took the jungle trail to the second, but just as busy so off we went to the 3rd, but no water fall. : ( But did have sum mini rapid type falls which was perfect to just chill out in. As i even took a shower under them all lathered up in my shampoo. I looked cool. Also jumped from about 15m high after climbing up the side of a cliff which was fun, bit dangerous but always wanted to do that, and luckily didnt even brake a bone. So after an hour or two chilling out here we made our way back down and this time the second falls was less busy so we all went for a swim here, me and Janssen actually went and swam under the water fall although they say its not advised as people have drowned, but it was fine as long as you can swim and hold ur breath as you
do get knocked under, but its well worth it to be on the other side of the falls. But for people not as daring you can hire a bamboo raft and it will take you under the falls instead, just not as dangerous and alot more expensive.
So got the bus back that nite to Cebu for my last nite in the Philippines and i just crashed out after a traditional dish of Pizza. But really have had an amazing 5weeks here which i would recommend to any1 and i will def be back as there is so much more to see and do here.
So the next day said my goodbyes to Jackie and off i left, destination Singapore after a stop over in Manila. So arrived in Singapore the flight flew over the masses of freighter ships just stuck motionless in the harbour, with no wer to go good old economic crisis could hit this place pretty hard. Once arrived in Singapore I realised I had arrived at the budget terminal so had to get the free shuttle to terminal 2 where i met Dan Mong and the train that goes straight into the city. Was
great to see Mong again and within moments the abuse had begun as if i have never been away after a very manly embrace of course.
So got the train into the city and then changed to get onto the MRT to Little India and we stayed in the dorm at the Prince of wales. Pretty nice dorm with air con and this is wen it hit singapore wasn cheap as it cost s$18. Took Dan out to a nice traditional food market just down the road, a good travelling experience, also the beer is cheaper here as its wer the locals eat. And the food was great.
The next day we was told that the Malaysian Gp was on at the weekend so me & Mong decided to go find tickets for it, found a dude selling then in Singapore and gave us info on the whole track so we bought the tickets at a backpackers friendly 110 pounds, but we thought well worth the treat aftyerall when would the oppurtunity arrise again, also you could have got tickets for the grass banks for only 10pounds so can def do it on a budget aswel. So went for
a walk around the city, saw the big wheel ( one of the biggest in the world) and also the Merlin Statue at the start of the CBD, is a lovely city, very clean. After we went down to the harbour front area, not as expected just a big shopping mall, but a beautifully landscaped water garden on the 3rd floor so just chilled out there for a bit, before doing a whole loop of the train line, as we got to the night safari a little too late so we just went on an adventure.
The next day, we headed off to the Singapore Zoo, and a pretty impressive zoo it is, very well set out although some of the exhibits wer a little to small for the animals, but the orangutan area was great as they are free roaming and climbing rite above your head. Was really good fun, at one point me & Dan seemed like we was the only people in the primate area of the zoo as the place is so big, and also had a great view of sum flying foxes in their enclosed jungle exhibit once the parade of school children left anway,
as the bats were just waking up and they wer huge.
After we went for dinner KFC, and then headed to the Night safari which was pretty good, as you get the train around another zoo and see the nocturnal animals, if not a little more allusive at night but was great to see, and we saw a little show at night of sum of the smaller animals which was fun to watch. But all in all a very Zoo related day and was thoroughly enjoyed.
The next morning we got the luxury bus from the golden mile complex s$30 but can do cheaper on local buses right into Malaysia and headed up to KL.
