Singapore is one of the best airports we have been too, you name it and the airport has it, twice. Getting from the airport to the city could not be easier, a simple train ride and you are there. Knowing what we have read about the location of our hotel we were a little apprehensive of the area we were staying, however there as nothing to worry about, there were more than enough punters to keep everyone happy. I would say that we are well travelled, but we have never ever seen anything like this in our lives! I will try and explain. It’s like walking in the middle of Thoresby Market but rather than haggling over goods, you can haggle over the price of a you know what. There were all shapes, sizes and ethnics to choose from and it went on from early morning, to early morning. From our hotel room we could see people entering houses, looking at what was on offer then more times than not, walking out again the looking in the house next door, all the way down the street. If the houses were busy, there were always the street corners which were packed with

action. To be honest though no one ever bothered us, they could obviously see that I was gay.

Onto Singapore itself, we were only here for a few days and decide to visit Sentona Island, which is a small Island just off the mainland and has been purposefully built as a recreational area for a little fun. We hire a bike and cycle all the way up and down one side of the Island which is only about 3km in length, it is here where they have huge Hotels with man made beaches and everything looks spic and span. After all that exercise its off to the Luge next, here you get to go from the top of the Island to the bottom on a little sledge, Karen managed to whip my butt 2-1 in a best of 3 compo. There were other attractions but nothing that suited us adrenaline junkies, so we made our way back to the main Island to watch a movie. Of the 4 nights we spent in Singapore, we went to the movies 3 times. We saw Cloverfield which was a brilliant story, however it was filmed aka Blair Witch project style so made

you feel sick after awhile. Next it was Sweeney Todd which turned out to be a chuffin musical, and on the last night we saw Gone Baby Gone which we both enjoyed.

Next day we head off to the East Coast using the directions given in the tourist information guide, we change 3 tube lines to catch a No 16 bus that never exists. Not knowing where on earth we are we end up hiring a taxi and asking him to take us, we cannot believe that after 20 minutes of travelling we pass our hotel and were literally 10 mins away in the first place! So can the editor of Singapore - An Idiots Guide To Finding Your Way, sack the prat who wrote the directions please . Once there its all very clean and nice and very flat, so we rent out the bicycles and do a 10km trip (are you impressed yet?) up and down the promenade. We stumble across a man made lake which has one of those automatic skiing water thingies, so end up watching the locals go round and round the lake, occasionally falling over giving us something to laugh at.

shopping malls over here are humongous and seem to roll from one into the other, but there is only so much shopping you can do before you get very cheesed off, hence the cinema action. It does however have one of the best Chinatowns we have seen, it is absolutely huge and here you can buy almost anything, and I think we have. Not much more to say about Singapore really apart from we enjoyed out time here. Malaysia is next, starting off in Kuala Lumpur…

Bye for now

Catching Up
Hi Guys, Glad to see you're still enjoying the trip, just been catching up on the post Christmas entries (some of us still have to work for a living), still makes facinating reading. Thought it looked like you might have lost weight in a couple of the photo's Brian, but Daryl said that wasn't possible and assures me that fat lads just aren't that photogenic. Didn't meet anyone I know in China Town did you? Look forward to the next instalment. Best Regards to you both.

HI MIke
As usual the fat lad is correct, no pounds lost here except the currency type. I hear you are all at the annual conference this week, good luck with the speech and pass on my regards. Only 27 degrees here today but getting warmer as the week goes on, so will have a few beers and will be thinking of you all. Take care Brian + Karen
