JQ61 to Singapore
Departing Darwin direct to Singapore Arrived Darwin airport and checked in for our Crapstar flight (whoops.. Jetstar) to Singapore. We had planned on bringing our backpacks on as cabin luggage as Damian had a great plan to hang out in the transit lounge and try and get into QANTAS club so we could shower, eat and drink for free and hang out there for our 8 hour layover before heading to Siem Reap.
Well, that plan backfired. We had to check our luggage in which meant we had to clear immigration and customs in Singapore and pray to god that we could check in early for our flight to Sieam Reap.
The flight from Darwin to Singa's was uneventful except for the baby crying for the entire flight and an annoying Australian bloke sitting on the row across from us crapping on at the top of his lungs. I could tell that his wife wanted to throw him out of the plane as much as I did.
Arrived at Changi and went through to Immigration which was quick and easy. The Immigration guy was too busy chatting to his colleague that I'm not surprised they let the Caucasian imposter an indian passport with
Incoming Passenger Card
Now, that's a massive IPC shoe polish on his face as his only disguise get through :oP.
We waited ages for our bags to arrive and I checked out the Customs situation. The 'Nothing to Declare' door was about 10 metres away with 4 Customs officers around one x-ray socialising. I was freaking out about my illegal chewing gum that I had on me but we walked out the door and I was home free with no checks at all.
We then went to the Jetstar Asia check-in counter which was closed but later found the service desk where the lady said that they were only opening 2 hours before our flight left. Our flight left at 0600 so we had about 6 hours to kill before check-in started.
I was in major need for a ciggie to took off outside dodging all the spit and snot from the disgusting heathens that think it's alright to spit wherever they want. We then went to a pub in Terminal 1 called Barnaby Bills or something like that and almost had a heart attack when I saw the beer prices.
$13 for a PINT!! Jeeeezus. We decided to order a beer anyway as we
Mentos
Can I get a bigger packet??? were fanging for a drink. The bar shut at 11pm so we then decided to catch the airport train to Terminal 3 for a look as there was nothing else to do. We got off and discovered that this is where the Crown Plaza was located. We walked into Bar 75 where the beers were also $12 for a PINT. We had two beers there each and a game of pool. The pool table cost $3 but we only had $11 Singaporean so we told the bar tender not to worry about it as we wanted to get something to eat later. He said that we could use it for free because he wanted to make us happy. Such a a sweetheart.
We left there around 1am and headed back to Terminal 1 as the trains stop running at 0230 and don't start again till 0500. We ended up finding a patch of tile to camp for the remaining 3 hours till check-in at 0400. Damian had a single blow up mattress which takes about 6 puffs of air to get inflated. We laid head to head sharing half and with our back packs wrapped around our legs in
Chuppa Chup
Unfortunately we couldn't find the worlds biggest Ecstasy pill to match the worlds biggest Chuppa Chup. Imagine sucking on this in a nightclub.. ha. case some random wanted to take off with them and then get death by hanging by the Singaporean police for theft. I had my eye mask on and IPOD going but couldn't sleep due to Damian's very loud, embarrassing snoring.
Eventually we were able to check-in and waited in line to enter the Departure Lounge with opened half and hour later. There was one immigration official at the entrance to the doors who checked everyone's boarding pass and passport before you were able to get processed by Immigration. All the immigration officers looked like they would rather be in a train crash than at work, but I know the feeling. Once through we went and had a feed at Subway and checked out the Duty Free. I recommend that you buy your alcohol at Singapore Airport Duty Free as it is shitloads cheaper than Australia.
Then we were off to Siem Reap for our 1 hour flight.
