Taking full advantage of the FREE foot and leg massagers in Changi Airport
All night here - no problem So much happened in Bangkok during our three-night stay. It was a strange end to our trip actually. Jason decided to get a couple of suits custom made, and they looked so good on during the second fitting that I was convinced to get a winter coat tailor-made too.
The second last day, while I was bartering for a book right off of Kao San, out of nowhere, a french tourist was struck by a car and hurt very badly. We only heard the loud screech of the car and the loud bang of the tourist's body bouncing off the windshield. We turned to see what it was and to our horror saw his shoes fall right infront of us. Jason, being the alert paramedic that he is, ran over to help the guy. I was quite shaky, as there was alot of blood, mostly coming as a result to a head injury. I was running around frantically trying to get someone with a mobile to call an ambulance while Jason kept him alert and stable. It turned out that this was the 27-year-old male's first day on holiday with his wife. He had crossed the road infront of a
Ooooo, it kinda tickles ;P
Enjoying some of Asia's advanced technologies - The Bum Massager bus that let him pass, and an impatient driver swirved around the bus going maybe 60km/hour, hitting him hard. When the ambulance finally arrived after what seemed like much too long of a wait, Jason worked with them to make sure the guy was properly being treated and cared for. He jumped in the ambulance with him and his wife to comply with the guy's wishes. Well, after they left, there wasn't much else for me to do, except walk back to our guesthouse and just worry, so thats pretty much what I did. It turns out that the tourist luckily had no internal injuries and just had to spend a couple of nights in the hospital.
The night before leaving Bangkok, Jason's parents arrived in the BKK, so we had a great time catching up on eachother's CRAZY-FUN adventures. It would be a long night of packing! Jason caught a few hours of sleep, while I stayed up the entire night packing my bags....and listening to Jason snore. Surprisingly, everything fit into my over-stuffed bag. I was a little freaked out that my US$25 Backpack from Cambodia would just burst sometime during our trip, but it didn't. I
Plane #56792456827465687249
Our monstrosity of a plane we flew from Bangkok to Japan to LA. Taken in the Narita, JAPAN Airport must say - that was the best 25 bucks I spent the entire year!
Unfortunately, Jason and I had to pay about CAD$30 for our extra weight, because we were flying with a budget airline from Bangkok to Singapore. Jason took his small backpack off the big one to carry on board. It was unbelievable - because when we arrived in Singapore Airport, Jason realized his tazer gun that he bought had been left in his carry-on backpack. Nobody caught this, except for us. Crazy to think, eh.
In Singapore, because we ran ourselves dry of money, we decided to spend the night in the fabulous Changi Airport. And don't think I'm being sarcastic when I call it fabulous. It has everything! We got wonderful foot and leg massages FREE OF CHARGE, ate at Burger King, tried on free samples of US$800 face cream, used the free internet, and slept in the complimentary lounge chairs they provide in the "Oasis". We even got BUM massages, as you can see in one of the photos - hehehe, it tickled.
When our flight was finally boarding, Jason and I were relieved and excited to fly with Singapore Airlines, as
Um, excuse me ma'am, sir
Anyone up for some football? I guess the sticker was just for decoration. they are definitely one of the best Airlines to fly with, Air Canada not so much. We requested the front of plane seats (with all the extra leg room), and got them which was great. Thank goodness for Valium! Jason and I needed the sleep, and got it. I put my headphones in, my hood on, my neck-pillow around my neck, my blanket over me, and my eye-patch on...and fell right asleep. I can't even recall take-off. When we landed in Narita, Japan for a quick stopover, the crew had to wake Jason and I up because we were the only ones left on the plane. We had only woken up to eat. It was a great flight!
On our long flight to LA, we took full advantage of the free drinks, and ordered a couple Singapore slings, and tried their fantastical selection of French Red and White Wines. It was great! The 11 hours felt like 2 to tell you the truth.
In LA, we bummed around, got caught up in a movie-set, which Jason tried to very obviously and not conspicuously at all, steal some food from the table of snacks set up for the actors.
Snowy Vancouver
From our plane looking out, waiting to go home. First sight of snow in a year and gotta say didn't miss it all that much. Haha, it was quite funny actually. Then, we had some trouble with Air Canada - not a surprise - for anyone who has ever flown with them!
When we arrived in Vancouver, we checked out the Fairmount Hotel to see about showers. It was supposed to cost $10 to use, but when we went on a search to find the showers to check them out first, we were already in, so decided to just skip out on the ridiculous fee. We had to be extra thrifty don't forget!
Jason and I headed to our final Gate, our last leg of the trip and waited for boarding. I got to watch Nancy Grace on the big screen for the first time in ages which was a treat! We boarded our plane, and it started snowing outside. We were in line to get our plane sprayed down to prevent the snow sticking to it while in flight, so we anxiously waited. Two and a half hours went by. Our pilot was worried that if the weather got any worse, we would have to turn around and spend the night in Vancouver. Luckily, we were able to fly safely to Edmonton.
Hehehe
Look at me mom and dad! Time for a full body massage ;) RELIEF!
We arrived at 3:30 AM, two and a quarter hours behind schedule. My parents were there waiting patiently for us. Free hugs all around! We were finally home - and we felt it! It was freezing!
Jason timed the amount of time it took us to get from Bangkok to Edmonton. In all, it was about 36 hours. It was a pretty fun trip though! I couldn't have chosen a better travelmate than Jason!
Thanks to those that put up with my long blog entries and to Jason - for countless hours posting my pictures up! This trip was all-in-all an indescribable AMAZING ADVENTURE!
Here are some well-put travel quotes for those who have travelled and for those wanting to embark on an adventure and add a little fun to their life:
The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page. ~St. Augustine
When preparing to travel, lay out all your clothes and all your money. Then take half the clothes and twice the money. ~Susan Heller
And my favorite travel quote of all:
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." -- Mark Twain
