What's the weather like? HOT. DAMN HOT. Landing in Singapore at 10pm, we stepped outside to wait for our shuttle bus and felt a brick wall of thick heat whack us in the head. Deciding this was not a good move, we go back inside the airport to wait for our shuttle. Repeat this experience several times over the next 24 hours and this kinda explains Singapore for us...but, not to be deterred we did see some cool stuff. We were taken on a tour of a vibrant area with tiny streets karaoke bars and many many food places bustling with people at 11 on a Monday night, before arriving at our hotel - The Scarlet, which is a small and gorgeous boutique hotel near the Chinatown area. BED! GOOD! SLEEP! Even better! In the morning we took advantage of a 1pm checkout by sleeping in, hanging out in the room before heading out to locate breakfast and see what we could see about 10am. Discovering that Singapore is really only getting itself together at this time, the working day for most is 11-7 ..our hotel is located really close to the Buddha Tooth relic temple and museum where we saw
tables in long rows with offerings to Buddha and masses of markets selling trinkets, food, clothing, weapons, wooden statues...FAB. Coffee and a hot milo was not the best beverage choice for brekky so we escaped back to the hotel for a couple of hours, before checking out. Thankfully we had access to the hotel itself, so our bags were safe. Evie hung out there and I went wandering, to a hindi temple and back to the buddhist temple where a ceremony was occurring. In both I was given extra coverings for myself (being only in a pair of shorts and a singlet top) . I felt a level of peace I havent felt in a long time and really appreciate the acceptance and invitation extended to those of us who are only there to experience, not to worship. Returning back to the hotel once more, I picked up Evie and we had a complimentary 10 minute beauty treatment, which for Evie was a foot soak ( warm water with a tea bag in it in a non operational footspa) and for me was an Oxygen treatment (hooking me up to a mask with a tube pumping pure O2, making me
look like a a cross between a Storm Trooper and The Joker). as the afternoon wore on, we thought it was time to kick back so we went upstairs to ARIA, the rooftop bar of the hotel, Italian food and decor. Best Decision Ever. We sat there for about an hour and a half, sipping drinks and having plates of Sicilian Street food brought to us one at a time with a breeze blowing, looking over the rooftops of chinatown. This is the life, I tells you. The evening was spent WAITING at Singpore Airport for HOURS..with only travelators to amuse us, flying out at 11.40pm on the biggest plane I had ever seen - an Airbus A380-800...London awaits...

Yummo! Singapore looks superfun. My entire experience of the place consists of Changi airport. A layover looks very worthwhile.
