Arrived in Manila on Wednesday afternoon, took a cab to the hotel … It was an interesting experience. For you guys who know how much I like the rules you must follow when you are driving and how mad I get when people doesn’t follow them, well let me just say that I would not be able to drive a car in the Philippines because NO ONE is following any rule what so ever… On a road with two lanes there were four cars driving next to each other. Anyway I was sad to see how some people have to live here (even worse than Peckham). Anyway we arrived to our hotel after sitting in a traffic jam for 30 min. When we checked in they said that they were going to give us their suite and it was a lovely room. Anyway we were tired so we stayed at the hotel and had dinner there.
Early morning woke up around 3:30am which was not too bad as I had been waking up at 4am every morning anyway so off to the airport. The taxi driver said that he knew which terminal we were going to and dropped us off
at the international airport, we asked him: “are you sure, because we are flying a domestic flight?” He replied: “Yes this is right”. Well it wasn’t so we got another cab and got to the right airport. Arriving at the check in counter and finds out that he flight is 1.5hours delayed. Anyway we waited and waited… and then it got delayed even more due to the service of the flight was incomplete. Not alarming at all… However it turns out that the local congressman was going to be on the same flight hens the delay, he obviously wanted to have a sleep-in. Finally we boarded the propeller plane. Thank god it was a short flight. We arrived 45 minutes later at Tablas Island. a car had been arrange to pick us up and drive us to St Augustine, it took 45 minutes and people are still driving like mad in this country. At St Augustine we met Carlos who has organised our stay at Romblon Island. To get to Romblon Island we had to take a speed boat for 30 min and finally we have arrived.
Carlos showed us around and we went for a nice lunch having
the best curry I have ever had. Then to the beach and a lovely swim. It is hot but cloudy of course. In the evening we had a seafood platter (havets lӓckerheter) which included: lobster, prawns, fish, squids (Pappa du hade ӓlskat den calamari som vi fick) and coconut crab. The Coconut crab lives on land in the jungle and eats coconut it tasted like our crabs in Sweden but not as salty. We sat on a terrace looking at the ocean watching the lightening. A great experience.
