Discover the beauty at it's best, as Natural as Mother Earth created. After naming Palawan's * Underground River*, as one of The New Seven Wonders of Nature, now let me introduce you, another beauty of Palawan , called, * El Nido *.
El Nido is a small mountainous Town of Palawan, surrounded by it's beautiful Limestone Mountains. To go to El Nido, you can choose to Fly Domestic Airlines from Manila, like Cebu Pacific or Airphil. Me, i prefer, Airphil , simply because it's delayed are not longer like Cebu Pacific, (many flights which takes hours of delayed.) But still it is your own choices on Airlines, or by Sea to Travel to El Nido. It is still the best to catch the early Plane, it is better to reach Puerto Princesa before lunch co'z mostly Vans use to leave Puerto Princesa at 9:00 or 10:00 in the Morning. You can take those Tourist Vans in all Travel Tours in Puerto Princesa, it takes 6 to 7 hours Roadtrip to El Nido and cost you around 700 Philippine Peso per Head. This is a long Journey, so i suggest that you take some Food, Fruits and Water to drink, and
most importantly for Women to bring Toiletpaper on every Comfort Room used co'z most of the CR. dont have Toiletpaper. The journey is very pleasant so much amusing naturals sights like, Bahay - Kubo ( native palm & bamboo houses), on a beautiful scenic surroundings , it's Natural beauty and typical Filipino's everyday routine, like farming and riding a carabao to go on Harvesting or collect woods for cooking, not to mention the beauty of the Flora and Fauna of the Region. El Nido town proper is a small Fishermans Town, which now the People profiting on Tourist. INN is everywhere, Hotels, Bars and Restaurants all over the Town, and more constructions going on. We choose to stay in Lolo Oyongs pension house, the same owner of our Lola Itang's pensionhouse which we took last year on our Underground River Tour. Lolo Oyong Pension is located in the heart of El Nido, near the Shops and Restaurants and ofcourse by the bay.Lolo Oyongs Standard Room cost 800pesos and the bigger more Comfortable Room is about 1, 200 pesos, both with Aircondition, including Breakfast of your choice. Electricity in El nido is Limited, there is no Electric between 2:00am till 2:00pm,
so it is actually, not affecting your stay in El Nido, co'z the Aircon stops in the middle of the night and in the morning after your breakfast you go on your tours and comeback into your hotels in the afternoon with ongoing Electric.
El Nido Town Proper bay is not suitable to Swim and to Sunbathing, it is also not the right place to walk in the town in Bikini, just always take an over on, or cover yourself in a light material walking in town. But if you want to Swim in a nearby area, take a Trycicle ( motorbike with sidecar)for 50 pesos, and ask them to take you in Las Cabanas Beach, which you will see when you go up to the Mountain View point by the Highway, you will see this beach to the left, or a 200pesos Trycicle ride to Nacpan beach which takes an hour drive, these two beaches are beautiful and perfect to spend the day under the Sun.
To have the best of El Nido you must go Island Hopping Tours, to explore it's hidden Paradise. There a lot of Island Hopping Tours in Town, which you have to
choose from tour A, B, C, D. The Best tour is the Big and Small Lagoon and the Hidden and Secret Beach. Tours cost around 700 to 800 pesos per Head, including Lunch which Boatmens and Captains have to learn Decorating and Plating Food and Fruits, and i can say perfectly done . The Big Lagoons are feautured in the latest film of The Bourne Legacy and in some areas of the Island chains was used in different countries versions of they're reality TV versions of Survivor. First tour we had was the Small and Big Lagoon, we are so lucky that we are only four persons in this Tour , plus our Guide and the Captain of the Boat, mostly you will Tour in 6 to 8 persons. The Lagoons are Breathtaking, very picturesque very Enchanting, with snorkelling is more fun co'z there's a lot to see underwater and it is really amazing. Hidden Beach, together with the Secret Beach was very Enchanting, Unique and yet exciting, a suggestion from me for Hidden Beach, even the water is not that deep , try to crawl than walking on Stones, they are really sharp and dont forget diving shoes or flipflops,
your boat Captain always have a first aid kit in case of corals wounds and scratches.
You can rent also a motorbike to drive around El Nido and reach the Mangrove area of El Nido and have a Mangrove Boat tour for 400pesos. So relaxing, so enjoyable specially when you reach the part where the ocean meets the mangrove river and you can take a walk on a sandbanks. So i wish you " More Fun in the Philippines", and enjoy looking my pictures.
