Day 6

We travelled by car to Intramuros (the walled city), our first stop was Fort Santiago, which is situated at the mouth of the Pasig River. The fort is a defence settlement, established during the Spanish era. José Rizal, the country's national hero, was imprisoned here before his execution in 1896.

The Fort has some nice gardens & ponds.

It also has a museum dedicated to José Rizal where you will find a replica of Jose Rizal’s prison cell set up supposedly before he was executed. From the Fort, you can also see the suburb of Tondo on the other side of the Pasig River.

After the Fort, we walked around Intramuros, first stopping to have a look at the Manila Cathedral. Then we walked a bit further & visited the San Agustin Church.

Feeling a bit hot & hungry after our walk, we decided to have a snack at a fast food oulet called Chow King. Feeling refreshed,
we drove over to a parking area near Manila Bay & had a walk around the foreshore.

Then we went over to Rizal Park & had at look at the Chinese Gardens.

Later in the evening, we had dinner at Lita's Mother's Place.
