We realise that we've been going on about our transport experiences over the last few of our blogs, but this is because travelling is all we've seemed to have done over the last couple of weeks. To be brief, the non air-con bus got us to the port town of Maya on record time owing to another determined speed demon driver (see the videos)! If anyone is interested the buses leave from 5am onwards from Cebu's Northern bus terminal, not something that is easy to find out! You have to leave Cebu early so you reach Maya around 9-10am so you can join a shared boat to Malapascua island (30 minutes, 40 pesos and 10p for the paddle boat to take you to the big boat). Malapascua is not a big island, you can probably walk ... read more

Je nachdem an welchen Gauner man geraet.

Malapascua Island is only a 30 minute boat ride from Maya but making that short journey means avoiding a couple of tedious scams, which fortunately we'd read about. On arriving at the dock, a guy immediately attempted scam number 1, saying there were only 2 other passengers wanting to go to the island, and the boat wouldn't leave until there were 24 people on board, so maybe we'd like to hire a boat specifically to take us across. We knew this would cost 10 times the correct price, plus a crowd of local people would avail themselves of the opportunity for a free ride, so we declined and sat down to wait. Some more passengers turned up soon after, at which point another guy approached us with scam number 2 to say that the boat would ... read more

Hard to believe, but this Island marked the last stop before Hong Kong, and the end of the 13 country journey. It was to be vacation. Not to delve too deep into semantics, but i do not consider the rest of the trip a vacation. The journey was at many times difficult, its goal was not 'pleasure' or relaxation but rather life experiences, personal growth and my inner need to see the world. this last aspect has only been reinforced and confirmed throughout the trip. There is something inside me that goes far beyond personal desire for travel. It is simply how I relate to the world. And consequently is the truest way for me to grow as a person. The last 2 1/2 months have been nothing short of incredible, but they have also been ... read more
