note: this is the second part of my travel blog in bohol
and the journey continues........
After our meal in the floating restaurants and enjoy the cruise in the loboc river, our group travel to tarsier sanctuary. i was amazed on how small the tarsier is. its size is no larger than an adult's hand. it is true that it one of the smallest known primates. it has big eyes with grayish and brown fur. they are gentle so you won't fear that they might bite you. when taking pictures with these creatures, camera flash is a big no no for according to the locals, camera flash may cause blindness to the tarsier. at present, tarsier has been declared to be an endangered species.
my close encounter with the tarsiers gave me the feeling of protectiveness to nature. as i walked away from their cage, sadness struck me. looking these creatures, they are so helpless and there is a need to really protect them. to neglect these creatures would definitely result to extinction of their species.
from tarsier sanctuary we stopped at the Hanging Bridge in Sipatan River. the bridge is located in the Municipality of Sevilla.
to those who have fear in heights, don't dare to cross the bridge for it moves when you walk on it.
our next destination is the Manmade Forest along the highway in the Municipality of Bilar. the forest is so beautiful, so green... when i walked under these trees, i have this feeling that God is watching and walking with me. i felt so alive. really, comuning with nature gives me an unexplainable and uncomparable feeling. the Boholanons were so blessed with this nature and im so blessed as well having experienced walking in their forest.
we then proceeded to the Municipality of Carmen, to witness another amazing God's creation, the Chocolate Hills. the iconic hills are the most famous attraction of Bohol. according to some facts, the hills were counted to almost 1,268 ice-cream scoop-shaped which stretch out across central Bohol. the site is an unparalleled piece of nature. watching these giant-mole hills will make you wonder how these hills came to existence. wow, the site is another God's masterpiece...
from Carmen, we traveled to Sagbayan Peak in the Municipality of Sagbayan. in the peak, we have great view of the Chocolate Hills. there is also
a tarsier sanctuary and a resort in the peak. nice view...
after Sagbayan Peak, we went back to Tagbilaran City for our dinner. we dined out in Bohol Tropics and what a surprise, the famous Loboc Children's Choir is there. we learned that the choir will have a performance in the Sandugo Grand Ballroom. in the seaside restaurant where we intend to have our dinner, they are also there preparing for their performance. God is really good. we failed to watch their concert in Loboc on the very same day and now they are here in front of us. wow... we talked to Ma'am Alma, children's musical director and conductor, and requested for a song, which they readily granted. and boila, they are singing for us, take note, only for us as audience. they sung Leron, leron sinta, a song i learned when i was in grade school. holly cow, their voices are so pure and angelic that compete to the sounds of the sea waves. the blending of voices are so perfect and excellent. a very simple song and yet they provided it with so much soul. it was heaven, yes, it feels like you are in heaven
as you heard them sing and it feels that you are sorrounded with cherubims when you heard their voices. what an experience. the children were really great and super talented..
what a way to end the night. great feeling, great people, great food, great views, great sorroundings. great experience, everything is great. i'm so blessed.... wow!
September 30, 2007: we woke early for our next destination is Balicasag Island. this is it. its swimming time. we traveled from tagbilaran city to Panglao Island, 30-minute drive from the city. white sand, long stretch white beaches, the island has lots to offer. if you love walking in the sand, the island is the place to be. we then rode the boat toward balicasag island. on that day, there is a tropical storm so as we cross the water between panglao island and balicasag islang, we were faced with big waves and rains. but it doesn't hinder us. after an hour of a roller coaster ride with big waves, we reached our final destination, the Balicasag Island. the island is a small island were you can find the Balicasag Island Dive Resort. the island have some great diving spot and some
coral reefs for snorkeling.
after an hours of swimming and wandering in the island, we returned to panglao island and backed to tagbilaran city. we bought some local delicacies and local products for pasalubongs to our friends in Manila. in the evening, we packed up our things for, im going back to Manila. its sad but its true, my vacation has ended and its time to be in the city again.
October 1, 2007: the time has come to bid farewell to Bohol, God's little paradise. i felt a little bit sad for why it has to end but happy for the chance to witness and experience Bohol. my short-lived romance with the province refreshes my tired soul. definitely, the memories will forever be embedded in my heart. and i thank God for allowing me to savor the beauty of one of His millions great creations.
