Since…

everything was kind of rushed and
we are in a tight budget and
we are just married and
we won’t be allowed to take planes or ferries and
the year is about to end and
we wanted sun and sand and
this list will still go on and on and on, and
simply because we just wanted to call the night ours after our big day, we decided to not go far and just stay nearby - we reserved our night getaway at Balai sa Laiya resort in San Juan, Batangas. It was the most convenient, after all we were still in the same province and the transportation going to and from San Juan is just around Bauan. But we were wrong! The journey is not that easy! It was near 6pm that day when we left Bauan to go to terminal to bring us in Lipa. Based from the directions we got from the net, once in Lipa, we need to ride a trike to the jeepney terminal that will bring us San Juan and from there another jeep to the resort. We followed every bit of direction, hoping not to get lost. However while we were on

the hour-long jeepney ride to San Juan, the resort attendant texted me and said that there are no more jeepneys from San Juan to Laiya after 6 pm. How’s that for a first night?! We still carried on anyway, I was already out of my mind, not knowing what to do if the text was true (I was half expecting that it is not and they just want to earn a little by fetching us)

We reached the town at around 8pm, and lo - the info was true to our dismay, no jeepneys to take us to San Juan. We had no choice but to ride a tricycle to the resort, which cost us 1.5hrs and 21 kilometers and 300 pesos. We arrived hungry at 9:30 pm, dinner buffet closed but we were delighted that they will prepare a dinner specially for us - so sweet for our first dinner! We ate to our heart’s content, strolled a bit and headed back to our cottage and yes, we can attest to it, slept. It was after all, a very long and tiring day.

The next day we continued to explore the place, take pictures, swim, and feel

the sand on our feet. We enjoyed the buffet served every meal, the dining area, the duyan and of course - the sun and the sand.

It was indeed a great way to start a new chapter of our lives... Our last trip for the year, the first as newlyweds.

As they say... "the couple that travels together...makes babies together oh... stay together". More trips to come!
