I always would give way to the horses and mules, extra breathing time. Many times there would be blood trails on the rocks to follow from where the horses and mules sustained cuts to their shins.

Glad to say the horses were moved on a bit- they produce litres of pee and we were on the downslope

So barren, there were choughs here though - a sort of crow like black bird, didn't see them again after here.
