I first noticed the Confederate Flag emblazened on his worn cap. And then the long beard and thick arms swirling with tattoos. Bubba and I struck up a lively conversation while we sat on the cushions of the Pilgrim's Bookstore, sipping on Nepali tea. This giant of a man has travelled extensively in between the Alaskan fishing seasons. While travelling, even in Muslim countries, Bubba sports a U.S. Flag sown on the bag of his leather jacket. He originally came from Alabama but felt it was a bit too conservative and closed minded for his liking. When I told him about the Adventure Cooking Show that I'm developing, he laughed and asked, "That's hilarious, like what? The cook has to fix up some grub on a campfire and shit?" Great idea! I proceeded to ask him what our chef, Jack Vinegar would learn to cook if we visited Alabama. Bubba responded, "Pig intestines man!" Another brilliant idea. Jack Vinegar in Alabama has a nice ring to it.
