Hello folks, Clare here.
Yip i'm finally back in the land of the living, free at last from the grips of the sneakiest, dirtiest evilest little bug-ruin-your-life i've ever come across in my puff. After a couple of horendous days of sickness it just disappeared and i was celebrating with the ferver of a religious experience when without warning i was suddenly thrown back into the pit of hell. And so it went. For a week. Turns out I had contracted giardia, a sickness caused by a nasty little parasite which basically stays in your system recurring every few days untill you get treatment. So i've taken a double dose of everything in the pharmacy and am feeling tip top again. Phew.
So, emancipated by not having to always have one eye firmly fixed on the bathroom,we actually managed to venture out of Thamel toay. We visited the monkey temple in Katmandu, a religious buddest monestry and temple situated high in the hills above the city. The views were breathtaking; the city sits snugly in the valley, the lush forests rise upwards and in the distance the outlines and snowy peaks of the Himalaya. Absolutely awe inspiring. Apart from the million(take your life in your hands) steps you had to climb up and down it was fantastic. Real live monks live in the central temple the place is covered in colourful prayer flags and there are prayer wheels everywhere. In fact the only thing that there are more of is monkeys. Hundreds of them runnning around,or lazing in the sun. Snacking on popcorn, playing in their swimming pool, picking nits out of each other, they really have the life of it up there. At the beginning you're like," oh look, they're so cute
