The journey for Thailand to Malaysia was an interesting one 😊 We traveled on a couple of buses, the first one, great, we had a few people we could chat too, including two Malaysians who were lovely and gave us brilliant advice. The second bus consisted of locals and one American guy, which was fine. We asked quite a number of times 'does the bus drop you off in Malaysia or at the border?' The answer being 'In Malaysia.' Anyway, we get moving on the bus, its getting quite late as we get closer to the border. The bus pulls up to the pavement, as we get to the border. The driver ushers myself, Geoff and this American dude off. We three are standing at the border with our bags...'oh, the bus must meet us on the otherside' The bus turns around and zooms off in the direction we came in. 'erm...maybe not!' The bus had more or less abandoned us in the middle of bloody NOWHERE!! What can you do? 😊 We walk through the border control, get our passports stamped etc and just hope for an answer on the otherside. By which time I've just been sick at the
border contol office, which is lovely! We wander out of the gates, which are then being closed and locked up for the night, so we JUST made it-could of had a lovely sleep at the border waiting for the gates to open in the morning! So thats a silver lining at least! We look around and see no one, nothing. But by stroke of luck the American guy spotted a man on the other side of the road. 'Taxi?' he asks...Thank God! By this time I'm feeling pretty rough and trying my hardest not to be sick in the cab. I was just hoping Geoff and the American guy had some sort of knowledge to where we were heading! Turns out the taxi guy phoned the only hotel in the area near where we needed to be to catch the boat in the morning, and booked us the last room. (Geoff and I that is, The American crashed in the boat office, then had a strop about the situation-but thats another story!) By the time we got dropped of at the hotel it was about 1am/2am in the morning, and the taxi guy asked if I talk to his wife
and confirm that he was on a job, not just avoiding going home😊 I felt so poorly at this point and was ready for sleep! Geoff, bless him looked after me, and had to run around all morning trying to get enough cash for us to take to the Perhentian islands, as they have no ATM's! So finally I drag myself out of bed and follow Geoff onto the boat. I'm sure I was green because everyone stayed well away from me 😊 haha! I cant remember much of the journey over, but Geoff got some lovely photos. When we arrived it was a stunning paradise island, with a few basic bars and not a lot else-perfect! We found a cabin to stay in, close to the beach, and I crashed for a few hours. All around the place were giant Monitor lizards, and when I say giant, I mean GIANT! Looked like dragons roaming around the place, they kept to themselves though (which was good, ey!) We booked a dive, more or less as soon as we arrived and I convinced myself Id be fine. I wasn't of course and had to postpone it but Geoff went. It was
a wreck dive, of which I did end up doing a few days later. We both loved it...I felt like Id discovered a pirate ship, and when swimming around it made up lots of imaginative stories, which consisted of walking the plank and one eyed Bill (the pirate!) It wasn't of course a pirate ship at all but a Sugar Boat that sank. My story, I think, is much more interesting! I dived with a woman and 3 other guys, all of which were complete maroons and were selfish divers, swimming across me, under me, banging into me etc. the diving instructor noticed this too and sent them all up early (1 because their air was lower than mine and 2 because they were just so annoying!) The instructor and I spent another 15/20mins under and took our time taking it all in. We saw so many beautiful fish, and bamboo sharks. Geoff and I also did a night dive, which as the name states, was at night! That was ok...Geoff really loved it but I found it pretty restricting, bar from the fact that my torch was crud the visibility, obviously, was limited. We had a big blue spotted
sting ray swim directly beneath us though, which was AWESOME! We also did a deep dive, well my dive was another towards my advance (as was the wreck and night dive) but Geoff, already having done his deep dive in Koh Tao, just came down for fun. We can both now dive up to 30metres, which is perfect depth! As you've probably gathered I got better 😊 It was probably a little stomach bug. Geoff got me a couple of tablets from some Irish girls, which made it all better!! The island was beautiful, we explored both sides of the island we stayed on, and both sides were paradise! Geoff got to try Shark, which was yummy apparently!
