Pehentian Island
From Taman Negara, got bus over to Kota Bharu - surprisingly really like this place, though it was only meant to be a short over. crazily bumped into a guy that we met in KL - so it really IS a small world!brilliant night market with ridiculous amounts of wonderful food & so cheap - best place so far. we had serious issues trying to choose stuff so just went for trying lots of weird stuff, including blue rice, pastry balls with fish stuff, chicken bits on kebab sticks, other unidentifyable objects that tasted great (of course nothing has names so wee have no idea what we ate)

also amazing desserts - we tried many! all sorts of strange things in weird colours, from sponge type things to jelly stuff. all quite delicious tho! then went back & watched amelie - that happened to be lying around - such a great film, always a pleasure to watch!

Perhentian Island
headed next morning to the beautiful Perhentian islands of - everyone claims they are amazing so i had to see for myself. most awful boat journey over there - very bumpy & wet coz the driver was a nutter, but when there, yes, it was pretty lovely!! small little island (Kecil) & we stayed on coral bay, nicely surrounded with rocks, corals & cocnout trees. much less touristy, for some well-deserved relaxation & chill-out time. no developments or roads on this islands (also impossible to use internet or phone) so felt nicely isolated & calm!

headed to the other side of island to check it out - had to head through more jungle again! - found it more touristy & expensive & we didn't fancy the walk through the jungle at night, so we decided to stay our end after that!!

visited the small fishing village across the island, nice sleepy little place, reminded me of padangbai, children & locals very sweet & friendly & happily lazying about all day doing pretty much nothing - so we happily did the same!!

Kuala Terengganu
headed over to Kuala Terengganu - typical little malay town, but not too hectic. another little chinatown, fantastic night market, loads of clothes & foods - we chose to try out as many different foods asa possible - all ended up being deep fried & many quite fishy. needless to say we felt quiet sick & very much regretted it, but food here is just so fried, it's quite hard to avoid! anyway, it will be nice to try some different cuisine after this.

some more impressive temples & mosques but unfortunately we arrived on a friday so most things are shut to observe the day of prayer. it also began chucking it down with rain again (we are gona get this loads as we are now into rainy season around here) but it meant we couldn't do a few things we had hoped to do. shame, but im sure we will live!!

feel like we have done malaysia quite well now, it been great, with a few little mishaps along the way, but definitely worth it! so heading onto thailand tonight. more updates when i get the chance! please sent your updates too!!
