01 Looking Down
Looking down into the butterfly park. Geo: 3.12433, 101.684
This morning Lisa, Rach and I went out for brunch. Lisa has a car and it was so nice not to be catching taxis all the time. She found us a great cafe to eat at. We were spending the day sightseeing. Our next stop was the Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park. We spent about half an hour here stalking the butterflies as we took photos of them. It seemed a similar size to a butterfly enclosure at a zoo. There were many colourful butterflies to see among the tropical plants and flowers. We then drove a short distance to the Kuala Lumpur Orchid Park. This seemed a bit run down in areas – but more importantly, it was free entry. There was also a great view of the Kuala Lumpur Tower and Petronas Towers from the gardens.
After a little walk around the park, we were back in the car. Lisa wanted to take us somewhere in the middle of the city. In the end we were driving around in circles due to a large group of protesters in the city centre that were causing roads to be closed. It did seem peaceful, but we thought it was best
02 Black & Yellow
A black butterfly with a little bit of yellow. if we left. So, we went back to Lisa's for a rest.
Later that afternoon we got ready for our evening out. The four of us caught a taxi to Chinatown. Here we had a walk around the markets. I bought a fake Mulberry purse and Tama bought a wallet. I had been avoiding it for over a week now- trying the stinky durian. It is a strange, tropical fruit that is large and covered in spikes. This little shop sold durian in all forms. The owner was very excited that I wanted to try it.
It was kept in the freezer. Small pieces were folded in rice paper. The fruit did have a pungent smell. I bravely picked up a piece and bit into it. The fruit has a very smooth texture and I didn't mind it. The shop owner gave me a plastic durian to hold for a photo. I then ate a second piece as we walked along. It would have been too much to eat the last piece and as no-one else wanted it, I had to throw in out.
We then caught an Uber to Heli Lounge Bar. We bought a drink from the bar and

This plant has pink and green leaves. then went up to the top. This place was very cool and has a great view of the surrounding buildings. We had a few drinks here as we waited for some of Lisa's friends to arrive. After a little while we caught another Uber to a different part of the city.
Here there was a whole pedestrian street full of hawkers - Jalan Alor. We choose a place to have dinner. After dinner we went to a bar called Havana for some drinking and dancing. Happy birthday to me!
