I hope that's soup... My wonderful trip has come to an end. Today I made the trip from Kuala Terengganu, my last stop in Malaysia back to KL which took pretty much all day. Yesterday I didn't do much either after I returned from Pulau Kapas. After a nice breakfast and a final chat with the people I met at KBC a bunch of us took the boat back to Marang. The sea was quite choppy and everyone had to wear life jackets, a first. My question as to how I would get back to KT were solved when the man who owns KBC gave me and some other people a lift back to the city.
I never did figure out how to get to the museum since its quite out of the way so instead I just walked around and by the water found a great market. They sold every kind of food imaginable there including all kinds of very interesting sweets (most of which looked like some sort of variation on jello and jello-related products but were sold like rahat-lukum, powdered with sugar). There were also all kinds of other things many of which came in plastic bags. Now some of them
were drinks but some of them I am not so sure since there were pieces of stuff floating around the liquid in the bags - some sort of soup maybe? I didn't try my luck with the soup but I did get a very tasty drink made out of watermelon and don't know what else. Also came in a bag and with a straw, but I never did figure out how I would put the straw in so I just poured it into a bottle when I went back to the hostel. When I got to the market initially the drinks weren't ready and I asked when they would be. The boys told me about one hour. They were really amused that I actually hung around for that long just to get one of their drinks. I also got some very tasty chicken murtabak which is a a dough that they fry with chicken, egg, and onion, kind of like a blinchik but the dough is thicker. It was so good that I got a second one after I finished it.
I repeated my market-going experience as soon as I got to KL because apparently in th e evening
there is a food market right near the place where I am staying. I got some very tasty beef satay and gawked at all the food again. Tomorrow at 6am I am off to the airport. See you all at home.
