When we got to KL it was 6.20pm, a journey lasting 13 & a half hours. We headed out for food as we hadn't eaten properly all day, we got the metro to KLCC Mall & had a nice meal in a posh Chinese Restaurant then had a look around the shops. We went back to the hostel, had a beer, watched football & went to bed at 2am.
What followed was the worst day of my trip so far, when Claire & I went to bed at 2am I was listening to my ipod & she put her phone on the table next to the bed. Rich came in ten minutes later & we all went to sleep. Claire's alarm clock went off at 9am & she used the light on it to try & find her phone; she couldn't find it so I said to put the big light on. The phone was not on the table where she left it & then I realised my ipod was gone which had been right next to my head. It takes a lot to wake Rich but he woke up & asked what was going on & we said
we had been robbed. He looked & discovered his passport & ipod had been taken; he hadn't locked the door when he came to bed so somebody had come in our room during the night & taken our things which were just inches from my face, it was a horrible feeling.
Claire & I went & told the man on reception we had been robbed & he just said his manager would be in at 11am. We got ready & Rich went to reception, the man had rung his manager who was the lady that had checked us in the night before. She came in & took us to the police station where we spent the morning drawing diagrams & signing forms. The police said they were coming to photograph the room & would met us at the hostel at 1.30pm so Claire & I went for lunch & the lady dropped Rich off at the British Embassy in the taxi she had paid for.
She was really nice & helpful & said we didn't have to pay for our room as she felt bad. I could have killed Rich, I was fuming, when we got back to
the hostel Claire discovered they had also taken her watch. We waited & waited & the police didn't turn up. At 4pm the lady called them & they said they would come when they had transport so Claire & I went out to try & cheer ourselves up.
We went to Lot 10 shopping Mall & indulged in some retail therapy, had a nice meal, went to an Irish bar for a beer & then walked to see the Petronas Towers at night. We went back to the hostel & went to bed, making the best of a crap day. We only had one key to the room so left it at Reception & collected it when Claire & I came in, we locked the door when we went to bed at midnight as we do actually have some common sense unlike Rich.
I did manage to get 2 hours sleep & woke up at 2.25am wondering if Rich was ok as he still hadn't come home. At 2.35am there was a knock at the door & I opened it to find Rich as drunk as a skunk, he stumbled in & told me & Claire he had
a brilliant day & he wasn't being sarcastic, I was fuming & locked the door. I tried to go to sleep again but the thought of someone being in our room the night before got to me & I couldn't sleep. I turned over & found Rich had decided to get undressed & throw his clothes over me, I picked them up & threw them on the floor in a huff.
The next morning, (Tuesday), Claire & I were determined to see some of KL & have a nice day. We got up at 6am, as some guys we had been talking to in the Irish bar told us we needed to be at the Petronas towers for 7am if we wanted to get tickets. We got downstairs & the lady said we didn't need to be there until 9am, it was just weekends that were busy so we sat & watched 'Finding Nemo.'
We headed out at 8.30am & went to the Petronas to get our tickets, we got them for 11am. We went & had breakfast in KLCC Mall, had a look around & then went back to the Towers at 10.45am. We didn't have to pay for the tickets which was good, we got to see a 3D film & then got a lift to the 41st floor where we got to spend some time walking across the Skybridge; it was a miserable rainy day but it was still nice to do.
Afterwards Claire & I went to KLCC Mall again & I brought a new camera as mine only works when it wants to now & Claire brought a new phone. We went to KL Sentral Station & brought our tickets to get the train to Singapore for the following morning, (Wednesday) & headed back to the hostel. Rich was in the shower & had only just got up after his late drunken night. There was still no apology from Rich, I was calmer with him today but Claire was really angry. He went out & told us he would see us later.
Claire & I went on the internet & watched a film until about 8pm, when Rich came back. We went out the three of us for some dinner at a Chinese Restaurant down our road in Chinatown; it was a better atmosphere & I think Claire & I realised we weren't going to get an apology & made the nest of it.
We went to get a taxi to take us to Bukit Bintang where Claire & I had a drink in an Irish bar the night before. We wanted a meter taxi so we didn't get ripped off but all the taxi drivers were saying they wouldn't put the meter on & it was a standard 10 Ringitt price. We tried to explain that there was three of us & we wanted it for 9 Ringitt but none of them would budge. This taxi man came up to me, gave me a Ringitt & told me to go in any taxi, we thought it was hilarious that another taxi driver was paying us to go in someone else's taxi. I think you had to be there but the three of feel into the taxi laughing, our taxi driver was laughing & so were two other taxi men. He then blew kisses as we drove off, how sweet!
We went to a bar that had a happy hour on & had two jugs of beer between us. At this point we were a bit merry, we went outside to go to another bar & it was thunder & lightening, it was really great. We went back to the Irish bar & Rich bumped into two girls he had met the night before, Louise & Jo. They sat chatting & drinking with us till last orders, at which point Claire & I went home to pack, getting to be about 2am.
We had to be up at 6am, I had no idea what time it was when Rich knocked at the door but when I opened it he said it was 6am & he wasn't going to bother going to bed. He waited for Claire & I to get ready & the sad thing was we waited outside McDonalds like three losers to have breakfast there. We went back to the hostel & said bye to Rich, he gave us both a hug & a kiss & said he would see us in a couple of days in Singapore.
Claire & I tried to sleep on the train but the air con was so cold & the TV was so loud that we couldn't, I really missed my ipod! So we played cards & watched the soppy romance films on the TV, arriving in Singapore about 4pm, after going through immigration & customs at the border.
I was happy to leave KL as it hadn't been kind to us & hoped Singapore would treat us better! It was a real shame as I was really looking forward to Kuala Lumpur before we got there but it just wasn't meant to be!
