Wherever I go travelling, I always like to seek out my favourite food and sights. In this first update, I like to take you to Penang which I visited during the 2007 Christmas holidays

Few of these shop houses have remained closed for some period of time. No attempts to demolish them although Penang Road is a busy part of town

A cheap and convenient mode of transport for the locals. This elderly man must have been peddling his trishaw for some years, come rain or sunshine. When it rains, it pours in Penang.

Pasar Pulau Tikus. Late morning after the rush hour. Vendor had time to catch up with local news while Mum had time to have a yarn with regular customer.

This coffee stall on wheels is located in Teluk Pahang. A cup of thick coffee with milk and sugar costs less than MR1.00. The stall does not go anywhere. It is "grounded"

This very basic no-frills barber shop is located at Teluk Pahang, a fishing village. No smoking allowed in shop.

This local sundry shop is located at Teluk Pahang, a fishing village. No liquor licence is required with an altar to the heavenly gods hanging beside the "sold here" sign.
