Well Hello to everyone, we have finally arrived and touched down in Asia. Sorry for the delay in updating my travelblog, as you canall appreaciate we have been busy exploring the place and drinking tiger beer till the early hours of the morning. I know that is no excuse but i'm using it anyway. So anyway let us fill you in on what we've been up too!
While i am on the subject of excuses i will appoligise now for my spelling and grammar over the following journals you will read, as it was never my greatest subject.
We flew into Singapore at 18.00 friday to an overcast and humid afternoon when you walked out the airport it was like someone throwing a bucket of warm water at you. After the 12 and a half hour flight where i only slept for aroung 2-2.5 hours due to the excitement and anticipation(Owen, Guy and Emma slept through most of the flight but Owen always sleeps after food so as you can imagine all he has done so farhis holiday is sleep). After arriving at the airport we all couldn't believe how tidy and clean the airport was, everything was gleaming,
so different to heathrow!
Once we collected our bags, we were met by Mr Wong (Which we all found a great laugh) who then drove us through the border from Singapore into Malaysia. Owen and I were well chuffed as we now had 2 different country stampes within 3 hours! Even though already we were sick of writing out customs forms!
So we met up with my step dad outside his appartment block and went up to his condo on the 10th floor. The condo overlooks Singapore and was furnished with air con good knows how we would of survived. Mark took us to his local watering hole called the Coffee Trap we all decided to start onBritish food so we could get into the full flow the next day. While at the coffe trap we proceeded to drink our way through 11 buckets of Tiger Beer Owen in particular was a little bit on the merry side to put it mildly.
Mark woke us all up early the next day to a lot of bad heads, bad mood and bad tasting mouths. We were taken to a couple of shopping malls where me and my brother bought
our flip flops and water. Every thing we looked at was so cheap and you really can get meals for the equivilent of one pound fifty.
That afternon we experianced our first monsoon and boy did it rain traveling back from where we had lunch you could not see the road for the amount of rain. What we had not realised there is two monsoon season and we are in the middle of one. It has rained everyday we have been here and there has been thunder and lighting as well. On the upside when we travel up to Thailand we will get to the dry season. So after the rain we decided tha the best thing to do was to go to the Coffee Trap till the early hours of the morning again. As you will see from the pics that the pool at Marks condo is well nice, so at 2.30 am we decided to go for a midnight swin as Mark informed us it was a 24 hr pool and it was perfectly fine to go swiming at this time of the morning, even though it is pitch black, we did enjoy the swim for at
least 30 minutes before a security guard decided to tell us something we could not understand but under the lines of what are you doing swimming at this time of the morning you British fools.
The next moring we got up very early so we could go to Desaru beach which was on the East coast and about a two hour drive through the worlds largest oil tree plant plot. We went in two cars as we have already made friends at the Coffee Trap and they liked the idea of going to the beach today. We got lost three times but still managed to make it there. The beach was quite not what we expected but still it had sun sea and was nicer then most British Beaches. Owen came back looking like a lobster although he had put on sun cream. We came back and went for a swim in thr pool in the rain just to get the salty taste away, we we proceeding to getting thrown out of the pool for a second time in two days, due to thunder and lightning above us.
Tuesday we are looking at staying in Singapore for the
day and possibly the night depending on our mood. So we will update you soon on our progress.
Hope everyone is well at home
