Don Kho Laos
Ladder down to the river taxi from the homestay Hello everyone we are now in Tha Khaek, after the poshist bus journey we have ever had. But prior to that we have done a homestay on Don Kho Isl which was a very real experience, and very hot. Bathing as you can see from Julie in the pics was a very public and basic afair. It was quite a raw experience but we really enjoyed it. In the evening we walked to the temple on the Isl and helped out with an English class with some novice Buddhist Monks and some of the islanders, which was fun.
Most of the women on the island earn their money from weaving silk, to make sarongs, the men fish or make fishing nets, at this time of year it is quite quiet because there is no rice growing until after the rainy season.
We also went to Wat Phu in Champasak region a very old temple built on the side of a hill. Wat (means Buddhist monastry and Phu means hill or mountain).
