We arrived in Luang Prabang in Laos by plane from Vietnam late in December. The flight into Laos seemed much easier than the alternative day long bus trip. Only later did we check the Lonely Planet to learn that they do not advise flying Laos Airlines due to a very poor history when it came to flights landing safely, and that they refused to release the information regarding their track record. Christmas day was mostly spent floating down this river in inner tubes. The current was strong enough so that you could just sit back and relax

Scattered along the side of the river are these little places to stop, buy a drink and have a little fun. This is a flying fox and tarzan rope.

This is where we spent most of Christmas day. Sitting by the river, drinking Beer Laos and watching each other and other tourists swing into the water from the tower in the background

Almost like beds, with blankets and TV. Its a good thing we came across this bus at the end of the trip. Had we not, it would have been the benchmark against which all other buses would be compared, and fail.
