A favorite thing to do here is rent a tire tube and float down the river while drinking beer, stopping only to jump off swings and get more beer. Ain't life grand?

After the Vietnam war, the americans donated a shitload of concrete to Laos so they could build an airplane runway. They built this instead, which is why it's also known as the Vertical Runway.

While in Vang Vieng, we met this swiss drunkard named Roland, and he just won't shut up! And as luck would have it, we saw him again in Vientiane. Thanks Russ & Audrey, hopefully the Lao Lao will ease the pain...

Poison in Laos
People were poisoned while visiting Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand. Doctors had done colonoscopies on subjects in Minneapolis USA and found internal organs infections cause by chemical poisoning. Tourists died within 2 months of their visit to Laos particulary Lao-American citizens who went to visit their relatives in Laos. International investigation is not yet confirmed. But every one should be concious of this problem.

YIKES!
Sorry for the late reply, I don't check my blog too much lately. Wow, I had no idea about that! My recommendation is to stick to the bakeries in Laos, they're pretty safe. Thanks for the comment!
