Vientianne
James, with a batch of pressies!! Well, we made it to the capital city with little or no trouble. Booked into the Riverside hotel, which is about 100m from the river, but a nice place... never saw the river!!!
We don't really know what to say about Vientianne. Seems like they have not actually finished it yet. Building works everywhere, dodgy roadworks where there are actually roads. However, this was the location for James' birthday so we were going to make the most of it.
Birthday itinerary was as follows:
Continental breakfast in bed followed by present wrapping, and birthday-cake style croissants with candles. I got a (hinted for) hand carved chessboard, some funky Laos slippers and some fake Ray Bans sunglasses...
A Laos Massage - great fun being straddled by a feisty young Laos girl, with hot towel compresses, sleepy music and a happy ending (lunch at our favourite Loas chain - Joma Bakery)
Afternoon free time (because Karen forgot about the romantic sunset drinks)
Fantastic al fresco evening meal, which beats the Vang Vieng pizza menu!!!
Left the following day, over the border back into Thailand, for an overnighter on the train, as we want a couple
Vientianne
James (aged 2) about to wish for some clothes. of weeks at some remote island locations, with some laid back beach life...

Fakers!
After closely studying your photos, I reckon there's a black line round you in every picture! I think you're faking it and you've actually half a year in prison and this is just an elaborate cover-up... oh hang no, maybe it's the shadow from the flash... I need to get out the house more.
