Today was pretty relaxing. . . just took the tube. . .

. . . A giant inflatable tractor inner tube! Got dropped off a few kilometres upriver, hopped on the inner tube and just glided peacefully down the Nam Xong river, taking in the amazing limestone mountainous and jungle scenery surrounding the river. Not a lot to it...

Just hop on, glide and then hop off back in Vang Vieng.

OK, so along the way are a few riverside bars, large ropeswings and a few caves to explore.

The only downsides to the experience was that the river was at its lowest, this time of year and so was particularly slow. Also, as its winter, the sun sets rather early. As the river's flanked by mountains, they tended to block the sun from about 4pm...so the last hour or two got pretty chilly. Still, a great way to chill out. And a cool view when you lay right back, dip the top of your head in the water and take in the scene upside down.
