Our trek began with a boat ride south on the Nam Ou, adn a visit to Se Kong, a Lao Lum (a tribe of lowland Lao) village (in retrospect Meagan pointed out that this visit was probably because our local guide was late, but we didn't notice at the time...). We all stayed at one family's house/storage/sleeping quarters the first night together with the whole family

The local kids showed a lot of interest in us, as tourists aren't that usual in their village

This home made car picked up quite a lot of speed when going down the hills in the village

All of us agreed that we all had a great experience in every possible way, and that it really had been worth what we had put in

When we visited the school in the first H'mong village, the kids was haning out the windows to look at the funny falang walking through their home

at least up the first steep hill of the day - but a lot more was waiting for us

parts of the trail we walked on was almost completely covered with bamboo trees, and this made it sometimes quite hard to get anywhere

When our guides found a bit of shade close to a river, they decided it was time for lunch, so they pulled up some chicken cooked the same morning, sticky rice, cut down some big banana leaves and there - lunch was served

With flip flops and a knife, we were led through the thickening jungle, but it came to a point where there was no more space to swing the knife - then we had to turn around
