Article(s): http://web.mit.edu/21f.066/www/theisen/music/genres2.html,http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Music/Vocaloid?from=Main.Vocaloid

As we all know, Japan is pretty popular for their wacky commercials and their cool gaming systems. However, this doesn't change what Japan is into. Japan's popular music is surprisingly from Western culture such as the US and Europe. So artist like Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, and One Direction are popular in Japan. On the other hand, this doesn't change the fact that Japan's popular music consist of their own.

One of Japan's most popular music types is J-Pop. J-Pop stands for Japanese Pop, and it's a bit hard to explain what it is. The music consist of funky, bubbly, and cutesy beats and vocals. The bands in particular influences the fashion in Japan. Another popular music type, which is one of my favorites, is Vocaloid. Vocaloid is based on Japan's form of art style, anime. The style of the singer is actually an anime figure, which is a hologram at live concerts. The vocals of these anime characters are from actual singers. Their voices are synthesize into the character, and the character is animated to sing.
