Tokyo is a great place to view art and architecture. There are hidden places in side alleys as well as major government buildings. One of my favorite places is the new National Art Center in Roppongi right in the city center. It has a beautiful glas front and inside two big concrete cones with a restaurant on top. It is overlooking Aoyama cemetery and it does not feel at all to be in the center of a 33 million people city. I also like very much the Tokyo International Forum - a glas and steel conference center near Tokyo station. It has a very airy and sciene fiction like atmosphere. Just next to it in Ginza are the buildings of several famous companies like Mikimoto or DeBeers or a little bite further in Harajuku from Prada. But there are always surprises while riding along alley ways. One is the Contemporary Sculpture Museum in Naka Meguro with a nice sculpture outdoor garden area. Shinjuku station hosts the big sky scrapers with the famous Metropolitan City Tower and just next to it the brand new tower of a Design school remembering very much on the same style as the Bird nest stadium in Beijing with stripes of metal on glas. There is inspiration for a life time out here.
