The morning of day five started very early as we were all up and out the door by 5:30am en route to the Tsukiji Fish Market. Upon hopping the subway for one stop (we were lazy and didn’t want to walk) we managed to weasel our was onto what appeared to be a tour group which we followed up to the tuna auction. We watched that for a few and then the long walk throughout the market begun. We saw a variety of things from the sea, such as octopus, tuna, eel, crab (in a variety of sizes), lobster, shrimp (also in variety of sizes), sea urchin, squid, blowfish and so much more. We spent hours walking up and down the small aisles seeing anything from preparations (cutting up and filleting) to selling to other vendors. When we finally made it out of the market we realized we missed a whole other area, the farmers portion, which had various fruits and vegetables. Opting to skip that we decided not to go back in yet we walked around the area a bit. We stumbled upon yet another vending machine and this one had melon milk, so I had to try it.

After we went back to the hotel and changed into something cooler as the temperature was quickly rising, we decide to split up for the day. Steve went off on his own and Shawn and I headed off to the Tokyo Dome. I was in search of a fitted Yomiuri Giants hat, and unfortunately I’m still in search for one. The shops weren’t open upon immediate arrival, we were up quite early, so we hit good ole Mickey D’s for breakfast, grab some melon soda (my new favorite soda) from 7-11 and then hit the fan shop. After being let down by no fitted hats, we walked across the way to the giant amusement park where some kids (in school uniforms) were riding the flume ride.
Next stop on our little wandering was the Imperial Palace. The grounds on which the palace sits is very large so we did a lot of walking and we didn’t even walk around the entire palace. We did however got a

After seeing those two and snagging some pictures we set out to find the Statue of Kusunoki Masashige. As we left the Sakashitamon Gate and started walking down the street we turned and got our bearings from one of our zillion maps. As we figured out where we needed to be Shawn glanced behind us to see a rather long snake just crawling along the moat wall as a swan was just sunning itself in the water. After finally getting to the statue we were seeking we sat on a park bench in the shade for a few, watched all the school kids running around (must’ve been a field trip) and planned out our next stop.
After relaxing for a while and giving our feet a slight breather we headed off to the Sony Building. It was pretty much just several floors of new products for sale. Some of the new gadgets were cool while others have been seen before. The experience itself was highly overrated. So we took off and snapped a few pictures of the surrounding buildings before heading back to the hotel to meet up
