Hello and welcome to my first blog the trip started a little rocky when we almost missed our flight, not that we where not at the airport in time or that we didn't get to our gate in time. we where busy chatting and thought that a great line of people where queuing up for our gate but in fact it was the gate next door and 279 people had boarded the plain and we where the last 3. it was only that i noticed there where no more Japanese people around i started to wonder. anyway we got on. flight was good first 9 hours went quite quickly the last three where hell. our first night out in tokyo we went to Roppongi it was fascinating just like you see on the films and TV ... read more

Soo, forgive me for not asking, but how are you? How was your day? Ohhh really... uh-huh... uh-huh... Ok Whatever... so I had an awesome day!! After being lost all day yesterday I think it was almost worth it to experience everything I got to today!! I did soo much!! Started out with the mastery of the train system. I had to go to Tokyo Station so I could make my way to the Imperial Palace. It was raining softly, but it was really easy to find from the station. So many people turned up to say Happy Birthday to the Emperor. People out front handed out the Japanese flag and we hiked our way up towards the Palace. In fact its a rare treat for anyone to get to see as much as I did. ... read more

Roppongi Rocks! After a long but safe flight we landed in countries unknown... Quickly and easily we found our luxury hotel (read: classy cubby hole). Even the toilets here rule!! They wash your tooshies, play music and dry. Before we knew it we were riding the subway, seeing the city and eating delicious and somewhat unidentifiable sashimi and sushi. Courtesy of some newly made Japanese friends we decided to jet it over to Roppongi District. Saw some beautiful views of magnificent and huge Tokyo. ... read more

After a long flight, where BA laugh when you try and pay for drinks - thank you! and feeling fairly sleep deprived Ray and I went for a night out in Tokyo. Might not be as lively as I thought even though it was a Tuesday but still managed to have an excellant time. Played a bit of darts with the locals first off then went to a few bars and had some late night japanesse cuisine, first of many good nights I hope....... read more

So Amit has arrived. And the first night of his arrival, we went out to a pub in Shinjuku. Met a few gaijins, had a good time. A girl from the states was clearly into him, but being Amit, he kept his focus on the essence of the trip, and will not be distracted from asian girls. The second day, we walked around the city, visited the Emperial palace (the actual palace was close to the visitors, so I thought, "what the fuck is up with that?") and had 2 large Sapporos (and it was LARGE). We found out that the season for hiking Mt. Fuji was over, and decided that we may need to find another way to kill the day.At night time we moved to a different capsule hotel in Roppogi, and went out at around ... read more

Soo I'm getting a bit of a late start today (It's almost 1pm as I write this). But I think it's well-justified. Last night was a gong show. I went down to "Roppongi", which is where I think most of the foreigners hang out in this city, because there were tons of them. Where to begin... Ah, yes. Food. Finding a place to eat in this city is extremely difficult. And it has absolutely nothing to do with a shortage of restaurants. You see, nearly everywhere that is a restaurant will have the name of the place written in English, a description of the restaurant in English, and then I'll go inside and the entire menu will be in Japanese, and nobody inside speaks a single word of English. Not complaining about the fact that they ... read more

Arriving in Tokyo, after months in south east Asia, was a real contrast. Armed with detailed directions to meet my sister (who moved out with family in September) I casually stepped off the plane in my t-shirt and flip flops then being hit unprepared by the cold. I say unprepared but I was warned about it before hand, doesn’t detract from how cold it was though. The next thing that hit me, and this was to stay consistent throughout my stay, was service. As I've mentioned in previous entries, the locals of any of the places I'd encountered so far have been great, but in Tokyo its taken up another level. I've never stayed anywhere 5star before but the treatment I received right from stepping off the plane was excellent. Everyone treats you like royalty, not ... read more
