Tray brought to our table so we could choose what fish we wanted for dinner.
I have a lot of people ask me what the food is like. The fish is incredible, of course. It is the best sushi you will ever have. They sell it everywhere. Stephen eats sushi everyday for lunch from Seven-11 and it is good. I ordered crab miso soup the other day at lunch and I got miso soup with a whole crab in it. Not what I was picturing I was going to get, but there was meat in the crab legs I could eat and it was excellent. We try a new restaurant every weekend and we try to stick to Japanese food. Out to eat last weekend the brought over a platter of the different fish of the day. The urchin was still moving! This past Saturday we ate at a new restaurant that just opened up on Thursday that is 1/2 block from our apartment. It is mainly yakatori (meat on a stick). They cook every part of the chicken. We ordered chicken with wasabi and when it was brought to us we were told that the chicken was very fresh that was why it wasn't cooked all the way. Being the brave souls that we are, we both tried it. E coli has not set in yet and we are 96 hours post raw chicken so we think we are ok. We are still not sure with why the chicken being fresh makes it ok to be a little raw. They also eat SO MANY things with raw eggs, I think they are in every noodle bowl which is probably why that is one food in Japan I have not ventured to try. We love the Japanese beer and get very excited whenever we find a favorite Napa valley wine.

A few other food things I want to point out in regards to fast food here. There are Starbuck's EVERYWHERE just like in the US (they do not have pumpkin spice lattes which makes me sad and will probably be the first thing I get when we arrive back in Atlanta). You can smoke in McDonald's (there are smoking sections). I have yet to venture into McDonald's, but Stephen goes once a week. And Subway (which I never eat at home so maybe this isn't weird) serves french fries. And they were really good. Oh, and good news is the Coke tastes the same here.

We cooked it ourselves so it was NOT raw

At real tea houses they give you a sweet that you eat first before you drink. They always are pretty.
