On Sunday, July 30th, Larry and I decided to go to Harajuku. We both had the day off from work and Larry had never been to Harajuku on a Sunday, which in the opinion of most, is the best day to go! It is the day where all the "Harajuku kids" dress up in their crazy garb and parade around town. So, after revisiting the Imperial Palace Garden (where we got engaged in February) in Ginza, we went to Harajuku for the rest of the day.
In Harajuku, we had lunch and did a little shopping, but then we did something REALLY different and exciting...We went to a photo studio where I was dressed up like a maiko (a geisha-in-training) and Larry was dressed up like a samurai, and we got professional pictures taken! Overall, the experience was really exciting and a lot of fun! Not only did I get my make-up done (Larry was jealous and wanted his make-up done as well!), but I also got to pick out what color and style of kimono I wanted, as well as my props and accessories. Together, we got to pick out what poses we wanted to be in for our
pictures. Then, after we got our pictures taken in the studio, we were taken to a beautiful garden out back, where we were able to take unlimited photos of eachother with our own camera. On our way back into the studio, we briefly walked through the streets to take a picture with someone's parked Harley!! Haha!!!
Before heading back home, we stopped at Fujimama's....a really great restaurant that was recommended to me by my friend Meghan, who also used to live in Tokyo and work for Disney! It was delicious!!
Talk to you all soon!
Love,
Larry & Melanie
