061906 (Mon) Kyoto Conference
asked someone how to get to the subway station within the Kyoto station. She showed me a way, then I got to the platform & noticed a girl also carrying the long poster carrier thing, then I asked her if she went there also. Yep! Then we traveled together & chatted she is nice & always accompany & show me how to get to the conference area. After getting e-mail contact, we separate.
Then I arrived the tent my poster has to be hanged. Then I realized my poster was a little bit larger than the place given & hard to handle such a big poster w/ my short arms! When I’m bothering how to get that done. Pang! All pins fell on the floor! So I helped the guy next to me to pick up the pines. Then I went back to my position & folded the sides of my poster & luckily, 2 Japanese girls come to help me! They are so nice, it’s a shame we haven’t chat much & no e-mail also! With their kind kelp, finally my poster was pinned! Then I took a photo of the poster & tried to gather my things & away for a breakfast! Pang! All pins fell all over the place again! But this time was the guy opposite me. Then I also helped him. Then we chatted a little & separated for diff seminars.
Then I attained some seminars, lunch talk, etc. the most interesting & great presentation is from a professor from U of Tokyo studying H5N1! 1st I was interested in the disease long time ago, but just watched some BBC programme, not in depth or scientific level! The presentation was great, he explained every steps/ expt he done v clearly! & he got gd & obvious results. He was very well-known & published papers in NATURE!!!
Then finally, my poster session comes! Then I stand-by & stood next to my poster for 30min w/o speaking to anyone, just stand there like an idiot! But look around almost all presenters got someone to talk to though most are Japanese! Just few min before the session end, I got an eye contact w/ the guy opposite me (the guy I chatted w/ in this morning) I complained no one there interested in my poster! Then he asked for explanation of what I done in the projest. He’s so nice! Then that was my 1st & last poster presentation in that conference! Then I listened to his project & he got many graphs & data. Finally, got his e-mail & wave gdbye.
When I left the conference center, actually I saw him w/ his friend just few ppl ahead of me. But dun wanna bother, so I just walked more slowly. Then O my god… a v long queue for buying a subway ticket! Finally, got one & got on the train to Kyoto station.
Arrived at Kyoto station, I looked at the hostel map & wondering which exit I should get out. Then suddenly, someone patted on my shoulder & I turned around & giggled- is him again! What a coincidence! & I handed the map to him. Then he read for a while & said “I follow U”. I giggled uncontrollably & repeated “U follow me!!!” U wanna play “Lost new episode” then he realized what he said & giggled. Then we walked & chatted. But he just always looked around & also referred to the map so frequently. I looked at him w/ doubtful eyes- then he said “U doubt me?” I nodded “I’m v important person” & he waved w/ the map. O… gosh… I really need the map, not a guy ha ha… then I gave him a surrendered look & acted like a slave, whatever & wherever u led me, my lord! Then finally I saw my hostel! Then we stopped at the crossroad. Then said communication w/ e-mail & he said he’d reply immediately! “immediately?!!” Ha ha. Somehow, he placed his hand on my head & said that I was short. I said it’s because the ground was uneven! & I changed place & from my perception I thought it’s better, but not for him, he still placed his hand on my head again & said I was still short. I admit I’m short from the day I was born, no need to remind me 2 times! I hit his hands. Then may be it’s time to go. Suddenly, he spread his arms, & I thought it’s a kind of western hug, so I got into his arms w/ lots of stuff on my hand & backpack. I thought it’s just a quick hug & patted on the back! But it seemed last a little bit longer than I thought & I felt his face leaning towards mine. Finally touched, o my gosh! My face previously already got some sweat on it! Then the hug loosened for a while & then I was held back & touched his face again. Actually, I was stunned at that moment. Then we separated & waved gdbye??? What has just happened? When I returned to my hostel I thought I blushed, actually I’m the kind of girl that hardly blush… I never hug by a guy like that so suddenly. & I only knew him for several hrs! I took a shower to cool myself! & I shared the experience to one of my hostel friend & she just giggled.
May be because I was stunned I didn’t ask him for a drink or sth…Or is that my illusion only?
