So we are in Kyoto. Nara was really a nice place.

This morning I slept in until 8am again, and then we took a train to the outskirts of Nara to see two temples. The first one, Yakushi-ji was really big inside, but very nice. There was a main hall and two pagodas - an old one and a new one. Afterwards we walked about 10 minutes to the other one, Toshodai-ji. The main hall was under construction, but the area was lush and nice. They had a Buddha there too - but not so big 😉

We had lunch at this place that served chicken and pork katsu (breaded). It was delicious. I'm glad we got to eat there. Reiko had told us how much she enjoyed having this when she comes home to Japan.

We caught the train to Kyoto and it was about a 45 minute ride. It was hot and humid today - I hope it's not like that tomorrow.

Kyoto station is huge. Luckily people were nice and pointed us in the right direction. It turns out that our hotel (Westin Miyako) has a shuttle bus, so we hopped on that. Our

hotel is a bit out of the way on a hill, but it's nice. A huge place. And it's got a subway stop right next to it. We rested this afternoon and this evening we took the subway into a more crowded area for dinner.

We found a great restaurant. We had to take off our shoes and sit on the floor (but it had a foot well for our feet). We got seafood, beef, and some vegetables on a leaf on a grill at our table. It had an awesome sauce on it. Also some tempura shrimp and beer. The beer went right to my head - but the atmosphere was great, and so was the food. I love cooking food at our table! I didn't want to leave.

Tomorrow is going to be a super busy day.
