We were very excited about the next part of our trip, the historical Kyoto (again with a HUGE list of things and places we wanted to see!) and most importantly, our first experience of the Shinkansen (bullet train)! I loved your excitement about the Shinkansen journey, and you've made Kyoto sound even more attractive to me now. I think I would feel at home with all the 'order' and 'balance' in Japan :)

So much to see and so little time. Love all your descriptions. We really must book a trip...sadly that won't happen for a while. We've heard so many wonderful things about Kyoto.
