We were very excited about the next part of our trip, the historical Kyoto (again with a HUGE list of things and places we wanted to see!) and most importantly, our first experience of the Shinkansen (bullet train)! Japan is full of these weird signs and most of the time we didn't know what they meant!

Taxis would pull up outside a tea room, a Japanese guy would get out and go inside.

Onsen chickens! Boo!
I loved your excitement about the Shinkansen journey, and you've made Kyoto sound even more attractive to me now. I think I would feel at home with all the 'order' and 'balance' in Japan :)

So much to see and so little time. Love all your descriptions. We really must book a trip...sadly that won't happen for a while. We've heard so many wonderful things about Kyoto.
