Out of excitement I jumped up and shouted "We're going to Hokkaidooooo!!!" only to be shot down by Casey who quickly reminded me that it was still only 6am... Read Full Entry

Besides the Snow Festival, this clock tower is Sapporo's tourist attraction. I am pretty sure it was built in the late 1800's, but I forget the rest of the story. Sorry.

Can't say that I support freezing real fish simply for the fact of decorating an ice sculpture.

Our last day of the snow festival which we spent at "Sato Land Park" (which turned out to be a kid's park, but still great fun!)

So apparently the uki matsuri is a great place to meet foreigners, and every school in Hokkiado seemed to think it would be a great idea to let all of their students loose on us. I can't count the number of times I was asked "Where are you from?" and then had a notepad jammed into my face with the expectations that I would sign it. It was only fun the first 10 times.

Cultural Difference Note: In Japan the snowmen are made with 2 snowballs... I find this strange.

Hi Darling, As much as I miss you, it looks like you are still having a blast! Do they need anymore teachers there? ha. In the one picture beside a snow sculpture it almost looks like you are doing the "dead frog" pose. haha. I am off to see the Ottawa carvings this weekend, but nothing will compare to your picts!!!
