Jamil. We are in Sumatra and the city Medan which is a big city like Vancover only not as big! We rented a car in Medan to take us through Sumatra. The first place we went to was Lake Toba, which is the biggest lake in South East Asia. It is actually a huge volcanic crater. We got there but we had to wait 1 hour and 30 minutes for a ferry that you have to take to get to the main island. The second day we rented mopeds to go around the island . On the third day we rented bicycles to see the countryside ( it was all up hill). After we stopped to get a cold drink, I raced dad to the post office and I won but that made me tired again. We sent some post card to some people. Then we got back to the hotel and got on our swimming suits and jumped into the lake. It was cold at first but it got better. Then we did some dives and a show for some people that were from Holland.

The next day we took the car to Berastagi where you climb a

steep, steep volcano that should take 2 hours up and 2 hours down. We were looking for a hotel and we stopped at a church and the guy came out to see what had happend and before we knew it, we were in the church eating a pancake and drinking a coke and he set us up with a nice fancy hotel that he said would be fun for the kids. Now my idea of fun for the kids is open space but it was not just open space, it was all sorts of rides with a sushi restaurant in it. The rides made mom sick cause they put us on the ride and then they forgot about us so we kept on going and going. That is what made mom sick. The next day we climbed the volcano. It was harder going down than up cause going down, the steps were covered in moss, and surrounded by a jungle so it made it much harder for us to go down. When we were at the top, we saw some steam coming out of a hole which smelled like rotten scrambled eggs. I was a little scared at first, but

then it got better. It was really cool to see a live volcano!

The next day we took the car to Bukit Lawang. The road there was really bad. The next day we took a jungle trek through the jungle and we saw 10 orangutans. One of the ones we saw, had a baby on its shoulder. It was really cute. Then there was another one that was male and he was probably twice the size of dad and his cheeks were huge compared to ours. The next day we came back to Medan. Bye now. Jamil.
